I have a 1989 rangie with a replacement transfer case and brake drum just fitted.

However the handbrake cable does not seem to fit through the floor properly. See pictures - the floor has a tube welded in that matches latter model discos with the cable operated handbrake (the ones with a clip and plastic adjuster at the top - the clip and adjuster are in the car so I suspect this used to be what was fitted).

But the transfer case that has been fitted as a replacement to this vehicle has the older mechanical shoe activation (see picture).

So I suspect that the cable for the mechanical handbrake will not fit the tube fitting and something has to be changed?

Anyway able to help - the pics are all of the set up as now sitting in the car (note I do not have the original parts I bought it as is).
Thanks in advance
Keith

It should slide through the hole with a circlip to hold it in place. They are generally a tight fit so maybe a bit of piursuation may help.

I think I have a handbrake leave at home if you want to give it a bash, have to look for it though.
