Hi folks and this is short notice but as the weather is going to be fine tomorrow, a GCLRO/AULRO Social Trip is well and truly overdue. To this end, I am running a recce out around Duck Creek Road tomorrow, to see if it is suitable for a trip.
I haven’t been out there for about 18+ months so I thought I would do a recce of the road and find a few suitable Wineries in the area.
My idea being to start at one winery, do our trip and finish at another winery, and if convenient, possibly visit a third winery on the trip.
If there are any interested in coming along on the recce tomorrow, or if there are any ideas for a trip, please post away here.
At this stage, if there are some interested tag-alongs for tomorrow, I’m thinking of starting at the winery, in Vineyard Way, which is off Mundoolun Connection Rd, about 500mts east of the Mundoolun Connection and Beaudesert - Beenleigh road intersection.
This is about 45 minutes from the Gold Coast and Brisbane’s southern and western suburbs.
Anyway, any interested takers, either PM me or post up here, and post a meeting time you think would be suitable.
Cheers.

Thanks Tim. I'll come along for the drive. Happy to meet you on Mundoolun Connection Rd at whatever time you nominate.

Hi Mark, I was thinking about 9:30 because the first winery probably doesn’t open till about 10.
I’m trying to find a web link to the wineries in the area and will get the exact opening time.
BTW, We are taking a packed lunch, just in case we can’t get a feed on the road.
Cheers Mark and see you in the morning.

Hi Mark, the winery opens at 10 am so don’t rush, any time between 9:30 and 10 will work.
After tracking down the wineries in the area, I think I’ll have to have a winery crawl up over Mount Tambourine some time.
See you tomorrow.

The track is in very good condition. You could get a Commodore up there.

Sweeeeet!
Theres a nice lookout area about 1/2 way up Duck Creek Rd IIRC. I think there is a couple of tables even. Might be a nice place to stop and and have a cuppa and take some photos.
Dad and I might do a run up there tomorrow as its not too far from home.

Hi dj, where the lookout is, go about 100m further up the track and there is a short track on the north side that takes you to a bit of a parking area.
If you go up there, can you check it out an see if it’s not to over grown, I’d like to stop there on the Social Trip for a bit of a gabfest and this would allow most of the vehicles some off road parking rather than blocking the road ( track ).
Cheers.

We had our lunch up there on the way up yesterday. Not too overgrown I'd say you could park 10 - 15 cars in that area. If more spots were needed a bit further up the track is quite wide so a number of cars could be parked along the track.

Thanks dj, we had 22 vehicles last time ( I was going to say 22 landies but we did have one car ) so as long as that area is good, this will make a good mid journey stop.
Thanks again
