Rod Millen is one of the most successful North American rally drivers of all time, and although brother Steve is best known for his road racing exploits, he, too, has participated in off-road racing. Nissan once sold cars under the Datsun brand, and long before the Subaru WRX and Mitsubishi EVO, the Datsun 510 was one of the stalwarts of rallying. Since Steve Millen's driving career ended, he has focused his efforts on modifying street cars, particularly Nissans through his company Stillen.

Stillen is now working on a new project that brings all of this heritage together: a rally prepped Nissan GT-R. In this case it's a road rally, specifically the Targa Newfoundland which will run from Sept. 12-19. Millen's team is following the usual practices, including chopping weight out of the car, squeezing more power out of the engine, beefing up the brakes and retuning the suspension. Perhaps best of all, Stillen has a blog where curious fans can follow the development and testing process (http://blog.stillen.com/) over the next several months.

Could be interesting to see how it goes.

They had a GTR race (and win I think) the recent Rally Tasmania, and I think we had one in targa tas last year as well.

A privately imported and stock spec (I think only tyres were different) GTR raced in targa west and won it not that long ago.

Even in stock form they are a force to be reckoned with.

Years back I had a fully prepped Maxima with every Stillen component available for this car at the time. Incredible components when used together. The suspension products completely changed the vehicle attitude from stock form. I miss the car - not the tickets! Over 320hp from a 4dr sedan is a treat. Blasted down Hwy 5 at 140mph once. Pretty foolish now that I'm a bit older. But what a rush!!!

I imagine GTR's are rare enough,,
add in RHD, and proper racing versions
and they become hens teeth.

Still(en) they are importing all manner of exotics to race these days,, we can only hope:cool:
