The press are reporting that our Pauline will be up against Capper in the QLD state election. Pity the electorate who gets either.....

What is that saying that politicians use to justify their pay increases?

"If you don't pay enough you will not get good people" ;)

What is the going rate for a polly now - $120,000 - $140,000 plus expenses.

Send in the clowns......this circus is a rort.

Well, it will be an interesting contest. Beaudesert is a redneck Country Party district. Look at the unlovely representatives they have elected over the years in state and local government.

I wouldn't call his comments abusive, I'd say they were rather factual. One is notoriously a redneck, the other is notoriously stupid.

been a lot of name calling in the past by a press well lubricated with party money.. yet most of what she had to say has been implemented by the majors so i dont think the term redneck really fits. popularistic and naive are a bit closer to the mark imho.

capper, well what can you say... they may have to put a clause like "must have an iq above 5" n ther candidates form...

they may have to put the tamborine termite up as a candidate....!

You're right. I apologise to all the idiots out there.

How about this:

She is a populist, fraudulent, hate monger who owes her notoriety to our unethical and sensation-driven press. She's not an idiot (as defined by the term) as she's obviously reasonably intelligent, and still does what she does.

As for Warwick, I can't even think of something witty to say.............it's just embarrassing.....:(

Sorry to press the point, guys, but do we have a bit of a pot and kettle problem here?

Just for the record, I have no connection with either Pauline or Warwick, and neither would I vote for them if they were in my electorate. I just reckon that in a democracy we can have different points of view without having to be on the rough end of unpleasant language.

BTW I think you're being a trifle sensitive. These are public figures and as such are prime targets for criticism.

Hey at least Hanson as redneck and silly as she can be has some understanding of what the average person is thinking and has concerns with and does not buckle to minority threats. She may be naive and politically incorrect, but it is about time the majority not the minority is listened to.
Would I vote for her, yes in this context if she is up against that clown Capper. Normally, maybe not, some of her thoughts are just a little to far left of centre at times. The labor government actually used a lot of very similar platforms to get elected.
I do agree with her philosophy of getting back to basics and listening to what the majority of Australians want, not sure of some her racist ideas though.
Our current governments are so swayed by minority activists, sects and making everyone unaccountable for their actions it just is not funny anymore.

Oh and our current system says anyone can stand so anyone that at least puts their hand up to be publically shamed has got nerve, maybe not Capper hes just an extrovert. I am sure if half of us run we would be misquoted and publically humiliated to keep us out of the mix and leave it to the real fradulent politicians in the labor and liberal parties who continually make false promises and then rnigue on them sighting many false reasons.
The answer is simple, if you dont like her, vote against her or better still run against her.

Just one question :
Does this make every politician that has run for office a fraudster then? Because they all claim the funds no matter who they are alligned with. Look at some of the real idiot's, whoops I mean candidates that have run in the past. Fred Nile is a classic example.

Many moons ago, when I had a proper job...

I was driving a large tourist catamaran to the reef from Townsville.

Had a VIP one day complete with "political adviser" and federal policeman for protection.
We had over a hundred passengers that day for the reef trip.

The politician in question was quiet and attentive to the briefings which is unusual when folks are in holiday mode.

Not once were politics mentioned all day, inspite of having a captive audience aboard.
Not one baby was kissed, not one hand was shaken off it's owners wrist.
She simply wanted to enjoy a day at the reef.

When we dropped her of at Maggie Island on the way home and she strolled down the Picnic Bay jetty, less minders I had the impression of just a normal person enjoying life.

I was quietly impressed.

I know for sure the real Pauline Hanson is definately not the one we all know from her publicists and the press.

No. I'm referring to the fact she is currently being investigated for electoral fraud and has been found guilty of the same offence in the past.

And yes, I know she got acquitted on appeal or some such.

Let's not bring Fred into the debate please.....I don't think Inc would have the server space:wasntme:

Willem, my reference to "Hate monger" is about the racism she is well known for. I should have made that point clearer.

Mate, if you lived up here and had to see the press she gets then you might have some sense of the frustration a lot (but sadly not all) Queenslanders feel about her.

Out of interest many years ago I went to a one nation rally and just sat down and listen to what all the fuss was about ......never been to any political rally before or since.
The Pauline in person and the one in the media are two different things.
I notice most of heir ideas have been taken up in one form or another by the main parties since.
Remember when the so called redneck said ASIC was a waste of time and the out cry over it.
Where is ASIC now ? and why ?

Well I don't consider myself a Red-neck however if I was in that part of the world she would get my vote. At least she has the guts to put it out front rather then hide behind the "I will do if you vote me in"

One of the other contenders A.Mc. was a Logan boy, started in my division, then moved to another when the going was looking tuff. I will admit that he did well in knocking off the former D Mayor. But now he is going to do what he has bagged others in the past for doing- cause an expensive by-election.

He hasn't held a long term job, only wanting to get in politics from a tender young age, he studied for it in Uni and has come out knowing it all.
Once voted in did silly things like take a holiday (with out informing anyone) to play OS in his band, jump up and gatecrash B.B. at Dreamworld (not a fan but it is illegal), form little hate groups against other Logan pollies, follow the rat pack causing trouble and aurgements in council sittings, not attend meetings and not attend seminars with the attitude that "there was nothing that He could teach me"

As for Capper don't know enough about ex Victorians but have heard he is unliked.

The lady pulled 22% of the primary vote translating to 11 of 89 seats in the 1998 Queensland state election (Thankyou Google). I don't see her as a dill or idiot as some here have suggested.
Of course she had some smart political types behind her but the thing I admire about her is she had, and is, having a go. I believe she is genuine in her beliefs and she has the conviction to stand behind them and cop it like no other politician seems to ever cop it.
There were an awful lot of people who agreed with her back then. It will be interesting to see how she goes this time around.
