Morning.
Will a Range Rover Classic 4dr (std wheel base) tow bar fit a 1997 Discovery? Are they the same part?

Thanks

Which tow bar? Hayman Reese?
A Hayman Reese SHOULD fit . Maybe it will need a bend at the front of theforward facing "prongs".

I have a Disco bar on my RRC (Thanks Khos) and it fits but I had to shim the LH "prong". I assume it is in a bit to allow for the step fitted to a Disco.

Thanks Philip.
It looks to be a genuine factory fitment and appears to have a spacer each side inside the chassis rail. This would allow the fitment of the step on the left but I do not know why it would have a spacer on the right side.
It is still fitted to a Range Rover

Then I think it will fit.
If there are spacers both ends, then odds on it is designed as a standard one.
I just looked at mine and I fitted the transit loops (say 4MM?) inside on both sides and then had about 3-4MM on the LH side. There may be 1MM on the RH as well. so say 8MM LH and 5MM RH.
So That may give you a guide anyway.

I think that the main point is that the pick up points at the end of the chassis and where the tube is welded to the chassis further forward are exactly the same .
On an RRC you have to also drill the end of the chassis for an extra mount , for a HR towbar anyway.
