Guys,
just after an idea if anyone might be interested. This is not definite yet.
I am President of a club, Australian Motorcycle Trail Riders Association. www.amtra.com.au (http://www.amtra.com.au).
Once a year we run an open event from our property in Northeast Vic, about an hours drive south of Myrtleford. We have around 250 entrants for the ride. This ride is a navigation ride where the riders are given route sheets and travel between 100 and 140 kms each day.
Our club provides sweep riders, check points and FWD backup. Due to various reasons there seems to have been a lack of people able to do FWD backup over the last couple of years. Duties for the 4wds may include helping mark off riders at check points, picking up broken bikes and sometimes broken riders and occasionally transporting riders to hospital in either Bright or Wangaratta if the need arises.
What I am looking for is if there would be any interest from people on this site who may be able to help. 5 vehicles would be all that is needed.
You would have a camping spot available on our property (may not be flat) would get Breakfast, maybe lunch and a spit roast dinner on Saturday night, Breakfast and lunch on Sunday. There is snacks available for purchase as well as alcohol for sale for the weekend. There is toilets and showers available and you would be welcome to join in the Saturday night get together. Extra meals are available at $50 per person for the weekend. You can cook your own food if you want to bring others and not pay the $50.00.
You would need to arrive no later than Friday night at our property and should be able to leave by Sunday afternoon if you wanted.
You would need a FWD Ute or FWD with a trailer capable of coping with Alpine FWD tracks and able to fit a bike or two if needed. Tracks will vary from maybe dusty, rocky and steep to wet, snow covered and steep depending on the weather and tracks chosen.
This would be a good opportunity to get away and do some 4wding and meet with other bush users, mostly trail bike riders.
It is proposed that if we get 5 vehicles then we could donate $500 to the running of this site.

Let me know here or by pm if you like. As I said, final details are not worked out yet and it may not be definite however if we do decide to go ahead with this and you volunteer I would need to know that we could rely on you to turn up if you say you will.

but i will have to run it past the wife and kid commitments

Thanks Ray,
actually the tracks are not very hard. Just normal Alpine driving. As with any driving in Alpine areas the weather can change dramatically. Last year Saturday was hot, Sunday it rained and snowed all day which made driving/riding a little more interesting.
