Is it possible to record From the hard-drive of a foxtel IQ box, using the usb port onto a notebook's dvd burner, and if so, whats the procedure?

Found this Jackz - not too helpful though - :(

How can I save my Foxtel IQ recordings? (http://www.pcuser.com.au/pcuser/hs2.nsf/lookup+1/1F4DDBCCD529D762CA2573410022BFE3)

Basically the usb and lan port on an IQ box are there for firmware updates and not for a/v flow. We have our box fed into the VCR before going to the A/V receiver but ours in not IQ and its still a live connection so i guess you wont know till you try it.

I have the same problem with my LG Plasma - it has a 250gb HDD in it to record programs to. I can record the sound to other devices via audio out however video out only works in real time for analogue transmissions only - anything that is recorded to the HDD (analogue/SD/HD) is converted to digital and does not come out of video out.

I have pulled the HDD out of the TV and connected it to my laptop which recognises the HDD but it does not show on Windows explorer as the TV uses a different file system to a computer.

I think you will be out of luck.

Cheers

Mate gave me a copy of underbelly (on DVD) the other day that he had pulled from his foxtel box - I'll see if I can find out how he did it.
