hi every one , just got me first freebie 1998xedi wagon so far so good havent done much yet plan to go to weiper soon this seems like a good place to find out about things as i did before i got mine about a week ago got a question though ihave to replace the oil pump gasket but rave says to use a tool wich i dont have its for the timing belt can any one tell me how to do it with out the tool its 2lt di hope to here from you all and catch ya next time:)

I did my timing belt just after a bought my car and did not use any special tools - I had to modify a couple of spanners and sockets to get into tight spots but that was about it. Haven't done a oil pump gasket though.

hi gary i have ordered the haynes manual but havnt got it yet.where is the hole to put a pin in to lock the fly wheel .i spent 1 and half days trying to find it lrover told mei have to do that before taking of the belt can you help please

I never found it and on other forums people have had the same problem. It is supposedly just below the crankshaft sensor.

I locked the camshafts and did the belts making sure the crankshaft did not move - I marked it at various points so that if the worst happened I knew where it should be.
