Defender sunvisor

Hi all,

Do any Defenders have sunvisors that can pivot around to block the sun coming in through the driver's window?

Are there aftermarket ones that can pivot?

This is to suit a 300Tdi 110.

The latest models don't and I haven't seen after market ones either.

Its a curiosity. Just about every vehicle made since the 1930's had this convenience as standard.

Land Rover Defender...the vehicle that time forgot. :p

At least for me it hasn't been a worry....I sit so far back and up that the B pillar and the low roof line seem to deal with most of the sun.:cool:

Yes, another querk of Defenders.
I, like one_iota, just lean back behind the B pillar. Can't really see why they never fitted a rotating sun visor - maybe because it's not a problem in the UK:p Would make sense in AUS.

Thanks guys. This is for a guy at work. I didn't even know they were like this til he showed me.
He is a shorty so the low roofline and B pillar won't be helping him out at all.

I thought of the walk around the wrecker thing but thought there might be an off the shelf part that would do it. Guess not.

The only problem I can see with having the swiveling visors is that the side window top is well below the top of the windscreen and the visor would only extend about an inch below the top of the side window, just eyeballing it a minute ago. I rarely have problems with the sun coming in the side - I can usually just sit up a bit straighter, but obviously this depends on how tall you are.

Another interesting point about sun visors, is why sunvisors that slide sideways on their pivot (like Citroen introduced in the fifties) have not been generally adopted.
