Gentleman,

First post but done a lot of reading.

I've removed my EGR including the water cooler and now I wish to replace the vacuum line with I believe the earlier one which has no "T" taking a line off to the former EGR (eventually).

While I can simply remove the line and "Plug" it I'd prefer to do it right and have an unbroken pipe/line.

Problem is LR say I need the part number or VIN number neither of which I have.

Anyone able to provide me with a part number. Thanks
Scouse

You don't have a VIN?
What's the engine fitted to?

As far as I know they all have the vacuum take off for the EGR

My understanding is he wants a VIN from an early build TD5 powered vehicle to get the vacuum line part number.

Lazy dealer should just look the part up, I used to all the time.

MSP101180 (pipe - solenoid valve).

I assume that's the one as it was only used up to XA222500.

I don't know anyone at Penrith. There's BMI at Mulgrave & Karcraft at Silverwater.

Scouse,
BMI, what does that stand for so I can look them up. ALto say there is no part number MSP101180 . Good thing is, I'm almost on a first name basis with the bloke.

MSP101180 exists on the LR system, you should have called Trivetts ;). $16.56 list but nil stock.
Try BMI or Karcraft.

Not convinced that is what he is after.

that number is

Discovery egr valve pipe msp101180 new genuine. su eBay.it Land Rover, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (http://cgi.ebay.it/Discovery-egr-valve-pipe-msp101180-new-genuine_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQitemZ120384624827)

I'm guessing what he is after is the hard vacuum pipe at the base of this picture.

I'm not familiar with the ins & outs of the Td5 so I was just going by the parts list. That's the only pipe that seems to change with early Td5s.

I can't see your picture from where I am at the moment either so that doesn't help :(.

Psimpson7 and Scouce,

Yep did try Trives and most helpfull and found the number but said it was for a discovery and hence not sure it will fit a Defender. they also confirmed none in OZ. Karcraft the same.

Now I'll try the link to Ebay.

Psimpson that's the pipe but needs to go on a Defender (Getting closer)

I have 2 Defender hose numbers:
WAP100970
WAP100980 (filter to EGR according to the picture)

I'll have to check Psimpson's picture tonight.

Early TD5 still had vacuum take off on the hard plastic line.
Just plug the ports with rubber caps...
Interestingly, a 2001 usually doesnt have an EGR cooler either :o

Re the pipe, thats what I thought too.

Yep,

It's looking more like a "plug" solution. The MSP1001180 (refer ebay) is the line I'm trying to elinminate.

I'll do a bit more research and see how I go. Let everyone know in any event. British Motor Sports most helpfull.

So close

In this link you can see the line

I’m led to believe that this is a standard part. If they had it made up then it looks like the “plug solution”.

OK I've now been told that the Vacuum line replacement is not a standard LR part but the company marketing the kit has them made up specifically.

Further their supplier is no longer in business. But I understand they are looking to get another supplier.

Thank you to all those who helped and in particular Scouse.

If I do fine they have sourced another suppler I'll post it on the forum
