Staring into my crystal ball, I see that you will be ecstatic. :D
As you plan on towing, I suggest the Mitchell Bros tow hitch, universally applauded by those who have gone this route.
With a caravan, you really need to install a dual battery system. Traxide have a brilliant setup (their SC80-LR) to cover your needs.

For me the rear electronic difflock was a definate must have as was the adaptive headlights, as has been said the Mitchell Bros hitch is also a must have. It made my van so much easier to tow, and I dont have to disconnect the van to get at the spare tyre under the rear of the car.
Depending on how heavy your van is and where you intend to go, you may consider 17" rims and LT (Light Truck) tyres. My van is a three ton off road beast, which has been on lots of the rough stuff in NT, SA and WA where the weight of all my spares, van and heat and corregations delaminated several 18" tyres, but we still got around the island and visited many memorable spots.
The D3 is definatly one to get you there and let you relax once there.
Have Fun,
