Probably a silly question but here goes, I bought a laptop a few months ago with Windows Vista and Office 2007 trial version. The trial has now expired and I can no longer send emails, I was going to buy office home/student but it doesn't appear to have outlook. I don't want to spend heaps of money on a bigger version of office as I won't get any value out of it. I want to be able to us my optus email account so what are my options, any help appreciated

Unless you specifically need Outlook then why not give Thunderbird a try?

Hi 4Bee, outlook is not important as long as I can use my optus email address.

Then TB should be fine as it is only a Mail Client regardless of ISP, & would need your account setting up, but that's a doddle provided you have all your details.
I have been using it for years.
Latest Version is V 2.00.21

If you don't want to fork out for Office I'd also suggest Open Office (http://www.openoffice.org/) (freebie).
Also why not get a webmail email address then if you leave optus for another internet service provider you don't need to change your email accounts. Good for when you need to check emails at airports or internet cafe or your mates place. I'd suggest a gmail account or yahoo mail account.

Vista comes with "Windows mail", similar to outlook express, it will be listed under all programs. when you open it it will detect your outlook account settings and import them, you can also import all your old messages from outlook as well.

The other option you have available to you if you are not using it for business purposes is an Academic licence (This is a bit of misname because it is a valid licence for home users not just students). Like the Home and Student Licence the Academic versions are also allowed to be installed on 3 PCs and are available at a fairly good price. (These prices are sourced from fairly well known online software retailers in Sydney your local PC store may be able to match or beat these prices)
The Academic Version of Office 2007 Standard is $256
Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Powerpoint, Microsoft Word
The Academic Version of Office 2007 Professional is $345
This contains Access 2007, Excel 2007, Outlook 2007 with BCM,
PowerPoint 2007, Publisher 2007 & Word 2007
PM me if you have any further questions you can't find answers too. I'm more than happy to help if I can.
Cheers Doc

This is what we are using on the laptop. I have Outlook on the desktop, but didn't have another license for it, so when the trial expired, I just used Windows Mail.
Has the same look and feel as Outlook, and you have already got it.
