Does anyone know if series one's had this badge on the grill?

According to Taylor it came in with the 2a when the 2.25 was introduced, so it would not have been a Series 1 part. Certainly I do not remember ever seeing one on either a Series 1 or 2, but then diesels were always pretty rare until the S2a, and even then did not become common until the late sixties.

I would have to agree with waht John said, I have never sceen a series 1 with a " Diesel" badge on its grill. That was built in the UK or shipped here, however maybe they used them in other countries while being built under licence from Land Rover.

If Taylor is correct, while a diesel badge may have been used, I doubt if it would have been that one. Less than 10% of Series 1 88s were diesel, and an even smaller proportion of 109s. Series 2 the proportion increased a bit to around 15%.

It is possible, of course, that some owners may have "retrofitted" their diesel Series 1 with the 2a badge.

I saw one recently sell on UK ebay for a huge price. I can't recall the exact price but nearly as exorbitant as pork pie lights

Mmmmm to me the badge dosnt look right, Land Rover usually put those smaller badges to the lower LH side of the grill. Like on the series 2, but hay it would look good to have a diesel badge on a diesel powered series 1.
