EGR Removal

Gday All,does anyone know if removing the EGR makes the car un-roadworthy in the eyes of the MVR under the emissions rule.It wont stop me doing it but as the car goes over the pits each year just wondering if it may be an issue.

I'm fairly sure you'll find that any emissions-related gear needs to be in place and functioning.

Unless the mechanic knows what he is looking for I think you will get away with it.
I am thinking of just blocking mine rather then removing it, I am not sure as to how much flow rates will change but figure it is a good thing.

In the old days we use to put ball bearings in to the anti-pollution hoses to block them and this did make a difference.

My EGR system is fully removed, and on both the last 2 MOT's (Uk tests) it has passed emissions with FLYING colours......removing the EGR actually "cleans" up the air inlet charge and makes it run better as well. The EGR is all under the engine acoustic cover anyway, know one would know if its there or not, If it passes the emissions check then theres no problem imo.

Hate to be pedantic, but the original question was "anyone know if removing the EGR makes the car un-roadworthy in the eyes of the MVR under the emissions rule", not whether the mechanic would pick it or it's effect on emissions.
Strictly speaking, it's illegal because you are removing/bypassing part of the emissions equipment, and as such you may be open to whatever they may do to enforce the rules.
