Wipers stopped

Here's one for the Brains Trust.

Both wiper blades have stopped half way in their travels.

The vehicle is a 1988 Rangie with Isuzu diesel.

Fuse OK

Steering column switch is clean with no contact burns inside and appears to be working.

Relay under the steering column has a click that can be felt when I hold my finger on it and move the switch.

Washer motors work.

Rear wiper/washers work.

No computer to worry about.

Anyone know what voltages I should be getting at the relay plug, don't want to go though everything else if the problem stems another part of the system.

I thought I would ask incase I missed something before I remove the Bonnet, snorkel, Phelmn ,etc.

The first thing I would do is oil the shafts of the wipers. Just lift the plastic cover if you have them and repeatedly pour some oil down.
They quite often stop just from no lubrication.

If not you have zee problem with the motor.

I thought I'd have to pull the front apart. Oh well I'll know the condition of all those parts now.

A quick follow up.

We pull the Bonnet, snorkel and Phelmn off this afternoon, what we found was that one of the bonnet lift helper springs had shifted to the point that it connected with the wiper linkage stopping it working, I spent a couple of hours pulling the lower dash and steering column apart looking for an electrical problem ...... all fixed now.

New to me as well, I pulled the circlip off the wiper motor, turned the key and the wiper motor moved, I looked around and saw the spring touching the wiper linkage, had my hand resting on it while removing the circlip ... :no2:!

Simple fix, hold the spring near the hinge tight and pull the part of the spring near the center of the vehicle towards the front.
