Fold Up Steps on a 110

Thinking of putting fold up steps on my 110 rather than the long side steps (personal preference) don't do major offroading so not really worried about ground clearance.
for the back door steps - would I need to make any modifications or should it fit out the box?
Also.. anyone knows of any for sale or a good place to source them?
LR dealers unsurprisingly very expensive..

Mine came from Fred Smith in Melbourne. As far as I know the only ones made for the 110 are the Genuine Landrover ones. There is a slightly different one intended for the Series that can probably be fitted to the 110, and aftermarket copies of them exist - the ones on my 2a came from Four Wheel Drives in Melbourne.

Probably the cheapest way to get them would be to buy them from the direct from the UK. The rear step isn't an issue if you don't have a towbar. If you do then it may cause some grief.

Good move not to go for the long steps as in my experience of the pair I got from Rovacraft they're useless.
OK the cook can use them for getting in and out which is why I bought them, but if they get caught up on anything there's so much slack in the bolt holes they move up and bend the metal along the bottom of the doors. :mad:
They really need much tighter tolerances and better fitting bolts to avoid this.
I was going to go for the other type but as I've sold (still here waiting for the new owner) the Defender I obviously won't bother now.:)

Tis a pity you are in Qld! I took off our step when getting the towbar fitted. It is spare so you can have it for free. Problem would be to ship it or if someone is willing to take it all or part of the way for you.

I had this experience, it wasn't due to slack in the bolt holes simply that the bar holding the thing just flexed and then bounced back like nothing had happened, except for the huge dent left in the skirting panel. I have decided to make my own rock sliders and then attach the side steps to those.

They do have some benefits, ie side impact with tree when side slipping on loose surface, it saved my doors. It just won't take any vertical weight more than a person standing on them.

Oh and if you check out discowhite's rig he has built a folding step that folds down under the door for his hug n kisses to get in and out of his 90.

The side steps do make an excellent side impact protection bar, and given that the only thing between a car striking the side of your vehicle and your hip is a bit of aluminium, I'd recommend the side steps.

We had the side runners swopped to the steps on our XS, because I think they look better on a Defender.
