Hey Guys,

I got some OME front springs yesterday for my 110 td5 ute, for a good price and they are still in the box.

But buying them on impluse i did not think to check the spring rates:angel:

They are a OME 761s, i think from looking around they are 200 lbs and OME say they are "Medium Duty" for a V8

also was told they are 2" lift.

Will these be fine to put on a my defender or will they be to soft, looking at running a pair of rock sliders and maybe a tube bar.

Cheers Ben

Personally, I'd be running the 751's with sliders and a bar. They're 230lb/in and will tolerate the weight better with less sag in the long term. They'll also be a good touring rate.

cheers mate,

Kinda low on funds so would like to use these ones, was thinking about putting them in and maybe a 10mm spacer:confused:

is this a bad idea and should i just bite the bullet and buy the 751s?

Please keep in mind that I have a Disco, but I have spent a lot of time thinking and doing suspension setup.

I think the 230lb will be a better long term proposition, and the 200lb will be fine also, but may drop a bit with age. 180lb on a disco with bullbars will drop back to standard over time, but they do work. The Defender is heavier, but the 200lb rates are more resilient.

every ome coil set ive seen only lifts to 40mm not 50mm.

for a bit more than that 100 bucks, you could have had the right springs from suspension stuff;)

They'll sit lower than OE HD 110 springs, which are 225lb/in, 15.3" free length off side, 14.8" near side.
