hello everyone

i have decided to try and produce another Calendar....The calendar will be A3 unless we cant get enough sponsors or hi res images in which case it will revert back to A4 again and will be sold, ANY!! profit made will be going to wards the direct running of this site.
I WILL NOT in anyway be making money out of this venture I'm purely a volunteer to help make it happen.

The last calendar seemed to work so well I see no reason but to involve you all again....you! the people that make it a great place to visit everyday.:D......so this is where you lot come in.

WHO WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A PHOTO OF THERE CAR FEATURED IN A CALENDAR ???.......

I will re-use the same 12 category's, to find the best pic for each month. There is an album with the category's in it that you can upload your photo too. The album will be open for upload on the 1st April and end on the 31st May

But in order to do this there are some requirements
The picture you upload to the gallery MUST be from an original that was taken in high resolution...(so it can be reduced to go into the gallery but must be available to us in hi res if you are chosen)
The camera used MUST be higher than 5 megapixles
When uploading a photo into the aulro calendar album you are handing over the rights to us for that photo in the calendar that will be sold, and you understand that the photo maybe changed and adjusted to fit in with what ever design the calendar under takes
there must be only one photo uploaded for a particular category and that photo can not be used in another category. (you may enter all the category's if you wish but must be 12 different photos) You can not re-submit any photo that made it in to this years Calendar...by ignoring this rule and having more than one I will delete the photo's should you not do so yourself when prompted.
you must be the owner of that photograph or have permission of the person that owns it.
if your photo is chosen you maybe asked to submit a short story about your self and your land rover or supply a mods list or something along those lines
All photo's MUST be LANDSCAPE..unfortunately portrait photo's are to hard to accommodate in a calendar when the majority are Landscape.
WOULD BE A HELP IF YOU COULD WRITE THE ORIGINAL PHOTO'S PIXEL SIZE IN YOUR DESCRIPTION FOR YOUR UPLOADED PHOTO for example; 2482x3511

these are some of the requirements needed......and it may change and have things added so bare with me, I'm not trying to scare anyone off just trying to to produce a good quality calendar that everyone is happy with

the high res is very important so for everyones sake please don't lie to anyone saying you have got one when you haven't as the quality of the calendar could be very compromised.

once all pics are uploaded myself and another volunteer will choose a few from each section and it will be put to a poll.......yes thats right you guys will be choosing who gets to go in the calendar....the reason i have done it this way is so all the moderators with the exception of my self and the volunteer have the chance of entering....that way i think its fair.

Just so you are all aware we reserve the right to remove a photo from the final pictures chosen..... if given good reason.

so i hope i have explained myself well enough and if any problems don't hesitate to contact me and I will try my best to answer any questions...

THIS COULD BE A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO GET YOUR CAR OUT THERE AND HELP THE FORUM AT THE SAME TIME ....SO GET UPLOADING!!!:D

just to explain one category a bit better the interesting land rover is the most interesting picture that is land rover related..........:)as well as interesting land rover......arty farty ones if you will.:D

Lou, how long will you keep the calendar open for submissions before closing everything off for voting on submissions?

I don't think you left anything out and did a great job of explaining everything! Just hope Ron doesn't check the spelling ;)

It only lets you upload to the categories above it ie. General thru to High Country Huts

DB,

I would like to offer my Graphic Design skills if required. I'd be more than happy to help with the layout and final artwork etc. Let me know if you require any help in this department. I have all my own tools ;)

I chucked a few up last night at full res. It's the first time I've used the gallery and have noticed that they only display at a max 1024px wide. Does it down size them on upload or just when you view them?

dont know but it doesn't matter as long as the hi res image is available should it get choosen you can put it in the gallery at any res you like as long as people can easily view it :)

Not sure what the recommended method is but this is how I do it..

Click the Gallery Link (next to FAQ) to get to the gallery.

Click on the actual gallery you are after from the list of galleries available..

Click on the upload photos link in the top RHS..

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2009/04/727.jpg

Follow the prompts after that.

I would like to be a part of this worthwhile project, as I was last year, but I'm afraid that once again I have been left behind as technology and the minimum standards for AULRO calendar photos have moved on.

My camera doesn't quite meet the minimum 5 megapixel limit. :(

you must of been out with someone that has had one!

I'm regretting putting it up to 5 but cant meet the minimum requirements of an A3 calendar without it :(

as some people commented on the corners folding on the A4 which will happen its unavoidable.
By getting the A3 I was looking at having it spiral bound to eliminate this problem

I understand that a minimum standard has to be set.

I just hope that this year's calendar will be sufficiently successful to ensure that there will be a 2011, a 2012 , and so on.

Maybe I'll be equipped to be involved next time, ... ... .. or the one after that. :)

Hey Lou,

I have uploaded 3. Sorry havent got anymore thanks to a harddrive failure on my laptop. (Hopefully my IT dept will get it back to me and I may have a few more to upload)

I think the 5mp limit is fine

Just spent hours downloading a few pics in the gallery ... only to find you have to have over 5 pixs to put in calendar ... Oh bugger!
