I had this happen as well and was thinking - here we go, back to the dealer to have it fixed - 2 starts later, no problem, three amigos gone and all well again - oh well, at least it was a no cost fix!

First time it's happened in 8 years over 2 separate Disco's.

Cheers,

Franz

lol they seem to be alive....
I have had mine since 01 and once ever the 3 amegos came on because of excess dust in the breaks... the disco has done 220,000 and stilll going strong....

can someone tell me why the car beeped after i turned it off, then opened the door and started it?

are there any secret reset procedures...

Mine does this occasionally.
Though I have noticed that its usually when I park on a slope, and more so in the wet on a slope. Also happens if I go from 'P' to 'D' on the box a bit too quick (auto).

All I do is drive to flat spot, turn off, take the key out, wait 10 secs, restart, hey presto - lights go out!
I was given this "trick" from a Landy mechanic mate I contacted back in the UK who reckons these switches are very temperamental, and an "actual failure" is very rare indeed. He also said he knew of a lot of rouge garages in the UK who are aware of this prob, just do the procedure above, charge a fortune for "repair", then park it on a flat surface ready for collection and hope the lights don't come back on when the customer picks the vehicle up!!

Have given up worrying about it! If it was a prob I would have thought I'd have issues with them coming on out on the tracks but they don't. Only really when I initially start up on the drive (slope) or very occasionally on a car park in the wet.

Prob doesn't help much, but at least you're not alone!! ;)

Yeah this doesnt always work, but I always try ift when the chimes go off. I carry my Nanocom with me everywhere so its not big deal to clear them if they dont go away.

The ABS wheel sensors are sometimes sensitive to vibration from brake squeak, happens even when it is too quiet to hear.
You can get away with turning off and on a couple of times, but eventually one of the sensors will have to be replaced.
You can try cleaning the connectors with contact cleaner, and checking earth points, sometimes that fixes the problem.

Hey mate

Will set you back around $450-500 dollars. You can get them from Karcraft or Rovacraft.

Check out the nanocom website - :: Nanocom :: (http://web.nanocom.it/default_i.cfm)

You can run it independently or connect it to the laptop via a serial port or usb. Very handy piece of kit for self diagnosis...thats if you know what you are looking for. You need to understand a bit about how the vehicle works.

I got one mainly cause I was doing a fair bit of remote touring and didnt want to be left stranded without being able to diagnose issues. My brother in law also has a disco so it was handy.
