I agree the toothpaste tastes festy if warm is used. The brush also feels wrong... But I do brush my teeth in the shower however I don't notice the temperature difference as I'm immersed already.
I think we really need to discuss who uses electric or manual brush and what people prefer.

I'm not sure why I'm going in to this but.....
I have had 3 electric numbers and I found the expensive one way to rough. Anyway, was talking to Ms Dentist about it and she said she also got it as it was meant to floss while you brushed and I hate flossing but although it does it it is extremely rough on the gums and in her opinion she reckoned it was doing more harm then good. So now I have a 200 dollar toothbrush.... might get some new heads and use it to clean the grout?

Plus running a few litres of water down the sink to get the warm is a bit of a waste ...well here in Vic it is - doesn't seem like the notherners have an issue with water at the moment.

Without getting too Pythonesque, I live in a studio apartment quite literally the size of a shoe box (a ladies shoe box at that!)...
You get used to it, but the best part is that the surprisingly capable hot water system is 1m from the kitchen sink, and 3m from the shower :)
Instant hot water is priceless...

I use cold water. Hot water makes the toothbrush go all soft and stupid. Hmmm, I guess that answers why you can get hard and soft brushes come to think of it.
It also spins me out how many people brush their teeth in the shower.
I seem to only use mouthwash the mornings after pizza and beer abuse or I have a flu - you know the ones when you wake up and your mouth is stuck shut. :(

If I had a choice it would be cold, unfortunately in NQ you don't get that choice, esp in summer, the cold tap is tepid at best.

I can see most of you are city people. Having lived in the country and on Norfolk Island where our water came from tanks, I learned to save water so I don't have the tap running when I brush. I rinse my mouth after brushing..
