I want to mount a box on the A-frame of my trailer and I am unsure how to attach it. Should I weld brackets to the A-frame or fabricate brackets that clamp around the box section of the A-frame?

I've done this then was told not to weld on top of the A frame.
but I should have welded under the box along the A frame.
I haven't had any problem in 4 yr. (road use only)

I just rivetted mine to the a frame with large rivets.
My box is aluminium.
Then you can remove it if you ever have to.

ID go pipe clamps around the metal of the frame work. no welding or drilling of anything imprtant and its easily removed.

Perhaps the best way is using U bolts for RHS (ready available) and mount the box in a bed of silicone (Silka) so you will not have problems with rust and noise.

I was in the local bolt place the other day, when I saw U-bolts that I thought were just the right size. I got them home they were perfect. I put timber between the A-frame and the box, partly to damp vibration and partly to space it up for clearance for the handbrake.
Thanks for the replies.
