I have just purchased an original series 2 (S/N 143000830) with 78k original miles. This vehicle has not been modified in any way. I am keen to restore the vehicle and my first question is any suggestions of the part suppliers for both mechanical & electrical. (my first purchase is the need of a new set of leads + coil). I look forward to receiving comments and suggestions from other owners. Cheers. David White

G'day David,

Welcome to the forum.
The serial number gives me a 1960 S2 88" SWB. Nice vehicle. Look forward to seeing some pictures. (We can help you on how to post them too:))

If you look at the Series 2 section: Series 2 and 2a - Australian Land Rover Owners (http://www.aulro.com/afvb/series-2-2a/)
there are some "sticky" threads at the top that have lots of details on suppliers.

Also you will find plenty of people here ready to help. If you have a specific request it is a bit easier to answer - ie "Where do I get brake shoes for my S2?"

Some people like to post up a list of what they want and, you never know, someone might have what you are looking for buried in their shed. :D

You can also place a "WANTED" ad in the Markets section too. Have a look around there too, someone may have what you need for sale.

And if you really like this place feel free to subscribe - it's only a few dollars and helps keep this wonderful site going.

P.S. Your not the same D. White I know are you?? Do you own a S2 disco??

P.P.S You can place your location in your profile it helps with answers.

Cheers

G'Day David. :)

The answers to your questions are very dependant on your location. ;)

In NSW, Land Vehicle Spares at Silverdale are very good, as are All fourX4 at Kotara.

In Melbourne, 4 Wheel Drives are ok...

Andrew,

Thanks for the heads up - graetly appreciated.

I'm based 1 hour north of Brisbane (Wamuran). You are spot on with the vehicle.

I'll post some photos this weekend - I assume this is done in user CP. I know I need to spend some time to navigate and learn my way around this site.

Sorry - not the same D White - the problem with a common surname.

Cheers

No worries David, I know another Land Rovering "Whitey".

There is an INTRODUCTIONS section too. You might like to give us a quick intro and tell us your story.

USER CP is where you add your details.

Look forward to hearing and seeing more of your 88":D

If you use the SEARCH function there is loads to find on all sorts of things.

Cheers

David,
I use "The Landrover Shop" which is based in Maryborough. They have been great for me in sourcing parts for my Disco and I know he is a big Series fan and has all sorts of parts both new and used for them. His details are on his web LAND ROVER SHOP (http://www.thelandrovershop.com.au). Good luck with the repairs/restoration.

Regards,
