Still not sure if I'll buy new or 2nd hand - I see a few nice looking 2007 models on carpoint that have less than 30k on the clock and for about $57k (tdv6 SE)

Just wondering what people think of buying these 2nd hand... all the electronics and stuff make me a bit nervous not being under warranty?

Also.. apparently the earlier models had a few issues? Are these fully fixed just from software updates?

Any advice appreciated :)

The only other problem is that I would like to get the rear diff lock but finding one in a 2nd hand sale probably would be hard? (I read somewhere that they have to be fitted factory)

A 2007 should still be under warranty. Make sure it has had all the services done. Early ones had some software and compressor issues as well as an issue with suspension bushes. I believe most of those were all done with by the 2007 model. I don't think there is much else that has caused a problem across all vehicles as in needing a recall rather than isolated incidents.

E-diff is factory fit only.

Mate - if you hold off to next year you might see a more noticeable drop in price (not just from being another year older) because of the new model, with significant improvements from brakes up, and nice looks, and not the least of which improvements is the stonking twin turbo 3.0 TDV6 - it looks as though there will only be one TD motor too just reading their speal no mention of the 2.7. If the take a nice little nosedive when the new model comes out they will be very good buying.

Make sure it has a full service history and was serviced by a main dealer. I would then get an aftermarket warranty (allianz is better) You may not need it but if something major goes wrong it can cost.
