hey guys
just a quick one... is this the power steering pump?

Whatever it is, it has to be replaced because that pulley has a lot of play... 5 - 10mm or so.... If its the power steering pump, grr, because i thought i had that replaced last year. or maybe it was the water pump i had replaced. i get the two mixed up. maybe it was the power steering pump that was *supposed* to be replaced, but i got them mixed up and asked for the water pump to be replaced. wouldn't surprise me...

thanks in advance...

EDIT: sorry, 300tdi

Before you get too disheartened, check the three bolts that hold the PS pump pulley onto the pump shaft.

If they're loose, pop the serpentine belt off, nip the three bolts up making sure the pulley is properly seated on the flange. Then replace the belt and tighten up the bolts firmly.

^^^^^^^ if the shaft itself had lots of play, it'd likely be spewing fluid, also check the bracketry etc

i don't think there's any fluid coming out, its hard to tell when the things covered in oil anyway. i'll check the bolts and brackets, thanks
