okay basic question, Cooper sst mud tires for 16 inch rims, cant remember the height but not huge,(standard size) 275 wide, with about 50% tread. What do you guys reckon they are worth:p

not more than $70 a piece fitted and balanced and worth nothing if they wont balance.

I agree. Used tyres like this arent worth much. And plus they are Coopers so that makes them even more useless!!:D

oh also worth nothing if....

they are more than 5 years old
the tread is scollaped or unevenly worn in any way
the side wall is scuffed or damaged
the bead is damaged
there is any penetration to the main supporting face of the tread blocks (that would be the area between the tread blocks0
there is any sign of creasing inside the carcass
theyve had tyre black on them (whats that hiding?)
theres any staining on the rubber of the sidewall
theres any sign of the treadblocks cracking away from the main supporting face
the rubber doesnt "feel" the same all the way around the tread and on the sidewalls.

Angus

A 50% worn muddy offroad in mud is about as good as a 30% worn A/T...

And agree with Angus, I wouldnt trust a 2nd hand Cooper, you have to ask yourself why they got rid of them....

Coopers arent much chop when they are new from what i have seen and heard, not so much the STT's more the ST's but either way they are coopers.

I dont think i would be paying more then $50-70 and as blknight said inspect them thoroughly for damage etc, and make sure they balance up nicely before parting with the dollars.

Can I just hijack the thread for a quick question?

How much should I be asking for BF Goodrich Muddies (235/85 R16) times 4 on about 65% and one brand new spare all in good nick?

Thanks

How much are they new? $250 or there abouts? I reckon $100 a tyre would be fair. It might sound cheap but the only tyres that fetch decent dollars second hand are those that cost a fortune new, like massive comp tyres etc, well thats what i have noticed when people sell tyres on ebay.

I tried to sell a 225/65/15 Mickey Thompson Baja MTX that was on the disco when i got my muddies, it never came off the back door, is still new with the nipples on it and i couldnt get rid of it for $40

Thanks mate thats about what I was thinking

I was looking at 255/85s the other day. They wanted $375 a tyre fitted. Not sure if that was the new design or not though

Now you say that, its given me a bit of an idea. I have a set of 15x8 Sunraysias.

I might see how much a set of 33x10.5 or 12.5 will set me back

heaps cheaper i have found. Tyres for 15in rims seem to be a heap cheaper, not sure why, but they are. I remember looking as some 31in baja claws a while back (lie 4yrs ago) and for the 15in steel rims i looked at they were $220 a tyre, for my 16in alloy wheels they were $300.
