Td5 Turbo Spit?

Hi

I'm a newby. Just taken delivery of my first Landy - a MY00.5 series II Disco Td5. Despite 250,000 km on the clock the car runs great, but I've noticed that after a run of, say, 40kms or more, if I pull up and turn off the motor immediately it marks it's territory by spitting about 200 ml of diesel on to the ground under the motor. It seems to be coming from the turbo and drains down on to the cross-member. Is this normal?

I notice the manual says to run it at idle for 10 seconds before switching off the ignition. The previous owner warned me to keep it running for a minute or two before switching off or risk blowing the turbo. Is this what's happened?

Is there already a thread on this somewhere that you could point me to?

Common leak from the good old fuel pressure regulator. Search here for 'Td5 fuel pressure regulator leak'
Has nothing to do with the turbo :)

Yep - very common. Around $400 to fix. You'll get a lot better mileage after fixing it too!!

forgive me guys, but isnt the fuel pressure reg on the drivers side, and the turbo on the passengers side ?? how can it be leaking across to the turbo area ?? or is it that it runs down the engine onto the crossmember and then over to underneath the turbo ?

Shouldn't be fuel from the turbo.
Fuel Reg is on drivers side.
check it's not oil.

If it is diesel, then it is coming from the Fuel pressure reg. The stuff goes everywhere on a hot engine, even makes it's way to the tailgate window in extreme cases:o

If you are mechanically minded, you can buy the fuel pressure regulator for under $200 now if you shop around - I got a surprise when I bought one the other day. Fiddly and technically difficult job though.
