Can anyone help? I have a chassis in reasonable nick, which is said to be a 1970 2a, according to the chassis number.

However, there are a couple of bits attached to the chassis which I can't identify as being 2a-like.

One is just behind the passenger side front spring hanger.

The other is exactly where you would expect to find the 2 holes for attaching the handbrake relay lever shaft.

Photos are attached. Anybody got any ideas? Thanks, Peter

looks like a steering damper mount and the handbarke mount from a sIII to me.

Have to agree with Dave's opinions.

The damper mounting bracket was bolted on in the earlier vehicles but became a welded bracket by the end of SIIa. Being the late SIIa is probably the reason for the handbrake design as well.

Very clean chassis by the way.

Thanks Dave and Diana, I'll move ahead on that basis. BTW, the project (almost up to date) is at www.greenacre.biz/landrover.
