Land Rover in the UK had factory-converted 6x6s available from late 1985, even though a prototype was shown at the One Ten's launch in 1983. A development of the Sandringham 6 Series III V8-based model, these later coil-sprung 6x6s never had the payload capability nor the off-road ability of the Australian designed 6x6s with their unique rubber-bushed load sharing rocker beam.

The rear suspension is so good that John Stretton, LR's Director of Global, Corporate & Direct Sales is quoted as saying in reference to LR promoting their latest version of a high payload mil vehicle using this set up

http://img2.imageshack.us/img2/6203/puma6x6e.jpg

"Comparative trials against other 6x6s with coil springs show that the Australian rocking-beam leaf-spring system gives far superior off-road performance."

Juddy, are those conversions Foley ones?

I was just about to ask the same question as that last pic, showing the back end of the 6x6, looked as though it was taken in Foley's yard.
