Dave has the main (expensive) points. If the engine starts readily there is unlikely to be anything serious wrong with the engine.
Note that if you really mean Series 2 rather than Series 2a you will be getting (if original) a two litre rather than 2.25 litre engine. Unless you are after a rather rare restoration job, this is best avoided - less power, even noisier, scarce parts.
Look for a chassis number with a letter suffix to denote 2a. (No suffix is Series 2)
If it is not sold as roadworthy, there could be anything wrong with it, but apart from the above comments, look closely at springs, and assume you will have to replace just about everything in the brakes, plus at least some tie rod ends, swivels perhaps swivel balls.
In any case, look out for modifications that need engineering approval (seats and wheels/tyres are the most likely), dodgy wiring (you would think it could be not much worse than Lucas's original effort, but I have seen some doozies), play in the steering relay, shock absorbers.
