Can't access second user?

Well was cleaning up my harddrive the other day (only had163mb left) and must have deleted something wrong. Basically our pc has 2 users (his and hers) and for some reason mine has stopped me accessing all my programs, email, files etc... they are still there but i just can't run them, it comes up saying there is no path to these files/device. It looks as if its reset itself (lost all my identities, even outlook express:()only on my side as hers works fine. Have started up another user but need to get info from the first user i had as in saved emails especially and get my email back up and running how it was.
Am going to get an external hd and see if i can load everything onto it and relaod up windows, but would like to get access to these files first if possible.
Any help would be great as i'm not really into this IT stuff.

I suppose it depends what you cleaned up, but can you do a 'System Restore' perchance?

Hi Vern

It's a long shot, but have a look in the Recycle Bin. It should be an icon on your desktop somewhere.

If you find anything in there that looks useful, right-click it and select restore form the "context menu".

Failing that, there are a number of forensic utilities out there that might be able to recover accidently deleted files. My personal favourite is Active@ Boot Disk Active@ Boot Disk. Bootable LiveCD. Backup, Data Recovery, Disk Eraser & more... (http://www.ntfs.com/boot-disk.htm)

Have a chat with a local IT guy before doing anything drastic or PM me your contact details.

Hiya mate - if its just the files you're concerned about you should be able to find them on your c: drive at somewhere like c:\documents and settings\username

This is assuming you're using Windows XP - you'll see folders in there like "desktop" which has your desktop, another one called "documents" etc.

The other account you look for this with will have to have administration rights to get in there though.
