Hello Everyone

I wanted to start a thread so everyone with a series 2 and 2a could post up there car and the name of there colour!

I hope people participate only because I'm really in to minds on what colour to have our 2a painted.....and with such limited original colours I thought it would help me to make up my mind by possibly seeing some original colours in there glory on the actual vehicles.

So bo me a favour post up a pic brag about your car and its colour did you paint it yourself or did you have someone do it...or is it still the original paint and you haven't touched it:)

Thanks

Lou

This is Basil - before:

And afterish:

Myself and a mate sprayed it ourselves. Not perfect, but it will do me. I should have the roof, door tops and vents back on Monday. (took them to a mate to spray - the roof needed some major bog work).

The paint I bought at Triken at Miranda - can't tell you the colour other than olive green and a whole heap of formulas Brad used to make it up. The seats have since been resprung, refoamed and recovered in green too.

I have the original rims (white - or what's left of the white). I will strip and respray those. Just little things now - door seals etc. Starts first time every time. Having a bit of trouble with the carby at the moment. But not bad for a 51 year old car.

I am not sure what you are expecting since most of the series vehicles are ex-mil here you may not get too many other colours other than green in different shades:D:wasntme:

well I have one and its not ex mil and its purple...So there might be some people out there that have restored using a different colour that was available for the 2a originally.....

it certainly doesn't hurt to ask!......you never know unless you ask right?

This is Onslow. He is dressed in a nice shade of Olive Drab, a very popular colour in military circles circa 1963 when Onslow was born.

Also this - albeit for SI - but I just love the paint colour name - Aircraft Cockpit Green - bombs away :D

Once you have worked out what roughly you want, go and see Brad at Triken at Miranda (I have absolutely no connection with them - just bought my paint there :D ) - he'll talk a glass eye to sleep, but what he doesn't know about auto paint, it's history etc. isn't worth knowing. The working out he did to mix my paint would be a mathematicians nirvana :Rolling:

You spraying it yourselves? If you need a spray gun, let me know. Can't help with a compressor though.

I hadn't actually seen that paint chart mick....But I have seen one on the forum which I believe was the original chart for the 2 and 2a which had about 6 colours on it....I would like to stick to an original colour of the time...hence hoping someone might put a pic up with their series boasting these colours so I can see what they look like on a complete vehicle rather than a swatch:)

Yeah I do have a paint gun....used it to spray my disco bonnet...but highly considering having it professionally sprayed on the outside. Just because I could never do a job as good as a pro and I really don't have the space to spray these panels up at my place.
I only have a very small shed! when I sprayed my bonnet I think I killed a few brain cells and I was wearing a respirator :lol2:
