I've been offered a 9000lbs low mount WARN winch off a Mate's Hiluux as he is selling it ( the car that is ).
Last year he bought a long length of Plasma Rope to go with that Winch and he has never used it once .
He's had the Winch serviced by ARB recently and has all the paperwork to go with this thing ,
what's a good condition WARN 9000lbs low mount worth these days?

Not Sure on the Model  might be XD9000 .
Are there Vast differences between XD and XP ? I might have to do some research?

I'm pretty sure the XD9000's in unused but been mounted on the bar for a while condition go for about $1k. The XP is a 9500lb, exactly the same as a XD9000 except with the 6hp motor and will sell for more, likewise synthetic is worth more also.

The winch is only worth how much the buyer wants to pay. difference between cost and worth

 I wouldn't pay that for a second hand winch:eek:
mounted on the bar and not used! its still open to the elements and been through god knows how many creek crossings

Sorry I don't agree with this comment , There has be an agreement between the Buyer and seller , hypothetical example , I as a Buyer would like to ONLY pay $200 dollar for this winch , Would the seller take $200 for the Winch , I stronly doubt it , not when considering he has spent near $500 for plasma rope and never used it , I'm not going to get it at this price !!!!!
The price set for the Goods must be within reason ;)

I think around $1000 to $1300 would be reasonable. It would depend on how old the winch is and what condition it is in. I would expect it to be good for this price...

I guess the next option is $1600 -1700 new. Almost all 2nd hand winches are in that condition or worse.

Maybe this is where I see things differently, i would personally pay the extra 600 on top of a second hand winch for 1000 and no exactly what I was getting and have the warranty.
unless i was buying something specific like an 8274....i would not pay over 750 for a second hand winch.
i know this one has plasma rope on it....i'm just talking in general.:)

lou , but the WARN would cost you $1600-$1700 , then you'll fork out another $550 for Plasma rope so it's takes well and truley over the 2K mark , and then the Winch will sit on the front of your car looking really cool :Dand you'll probably never ever get to use it. so you may as well have some thing half that price on the front BB of your car looking cool:D
see where I'm going with this....

coz if you read my post I was replying to slunnie "in general" as I said but I know this one has a plasma rope....i.e doesn't really count
oh and I only paid a smidge over 300 for my plasma including fairlead;)
a grand would be a bloody good price for this winch if you brought it for that........which means if you take into account that your paying for the rope as well then you haven't paid a grand for the winch which kind of proves my point as to what I would pay for a second hand winch:D

okay , what was the length of the plasma Rope ? I'm interested . having Plasma on the Winch must have some bearing on the final price? you can't tell me it doesn't count ??

8274 is a high mount like on the front of my 90.
The XP warn has a seperate solenoid box, wheras the xd9000 can have the solenoids built into the bridge.
The XP motor is widely regarded to be about the best 12v winch motor available.
ETA, there are advantages of having plasma, but if all you want is to get your self out of trouble ocasionallly, it really isnt any better than wire IMO.

khoz of course it has bearing on the price.....IM NOT DISAGREEING WITH YOU!!!!!!!
I mearly said that I wouldn't pay a 1000 bux for a winch......that was WITHOUT a plasma rope, in your case you have a plasma rope so I said if you paid a 1000bux with it on then you have a bloody good deal:eek:.
and my plasma is 125'....BUT i got mine from the states but i'm pretty sure a few people on here got rope for a similar price to me in oz...but thats irelevant anyway.

re the winches, each to their own. The person who will pay $1000 gets the winch and someone that will pay $300 doesn't. Plasma will also vary from the cheapie $200 Ebay stuff through to $1000 high quality and strong stuff.
