I've seen a couple of landys recently with plastic covers / blanking plates over their Defender fuel filler recesses. I assumed they werent permanently blanked off and some other fuel filler in use.

Does anyone know what the story is with these, do you just pull them off with your fingers ? are they just to keep the filler from filling with dust etc.

Both vehicles were victorian registered.

See here: DEFENDOOR fuel filler recess cover for Land Rover Defender (http://www.defendoor.co.uk). Also is on eBay.

It's a great little product. I got one a month ago and it has been excellent in keeping the dust out.

Actually, looking at the website, is there an opportunity to pursue ones with an AULRO logo - although their minimum "bulk" pricing seems to be 100, and they don't seem to have a price for setting up with your own logo.

Custom Branded they are (UKP)4.32 - just over $10 so probably $15 -count me in.

Artwork up to 90mm x 90mm but no specs, I would say logo supplied as .ai (Adobe Illustrator) file or the like would be OK.

Hello Down Under,

I noticed a lot of hits from your forum to my new webpage DEFENDOOR fuel filler recess cover for Land Rover Defender (http://www.defendoor.co.uk) and would like to add my 2 cents to this thread. My name is Mark and I developed the fuel filler recess cover of necessity. We live in the outback (forest and mountains) of the Czech Republic, heat with wood and a nearby stream is our drinking water and powers a generator creating our electricity and this computer. I was tired of dealing with a frozen cap lock, snow and ice, frozen mud, and (to a lesser extent) the eternal sludge built up in the recess corners of our Defender 110. I used to stuff a rag in there but thought about a cover made out of the same material as a Frisbee, thus was born the Defendoor. I have a lot of ideas but this is one that really seemed to take off and finally came to production.

I have noticed the interest in this thread and am flattered, I believe that our cover would also protect against dust but have never had the opportunity to test it. I have always wanted to travel to your vast and interesting country and would like to offer members of this forum a special offer, maybe make some friends for the future. If someone could send me the forum logo design, in b&w nearly any format, I would be happy to brand the covers and sell them for the price of normal unprinted ones. About 7.20 Australian Dollars each plus shipping. At $10 I could mail them individually to any address in Australia. This offer is only for covers with the AULRO forum logo.

Let me know what you think. Thanks

I like this one

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

It has an "Overlanding" flavour to it (I know someones going to say it tastes like diesel). Anyway, what about the Aulro logo on the upper part of this Design?

Understood - and if the boss has any questions just let me know, anxiously await his approval or comments.

I think that just having a logo on a fuel cap is a bit wierd, why would you put the logo on the fuel cap of all places? But having the logo with the "Diesel Only" text looks good (as below), as the text gives the cover a sense of purpose, and the logo isn't left on it's own. - If everyone gets what I mean.

Anyway that's just my idea, I'm sure there are many creative minds out there.

I'm in, I like the one proposed by defendoor because it has the logo and it shows the international nature of the vehicle.

Defendoor also has these for sale on ebay :

http://www.defendoor.co.uk/defender/images/speaker/left-speaker.jpg

Not only are they a good speaker mount, but also an ideal place to add auxillary power points for the back of the Defender. In fact I'd be interested in a couple of blanks, just for that purpose.

If we're doing deals, maybe a deal on these would be good.

Are there any copywrite issues with using hte landrover logo?

Also, worth getting a few each. I've left the fuel cap on the roof before....

How easily are the knocked off in the bush?
