Could someone please confirm the generic part number for a TD5 Defender fan belt (serpentine belt). I think it is 7PK 1825. (7 ribs 1825mm long) Just packing spares for a trip. Should be the same part number as a Series2 Disco TD5 belt without ACE.

Thanks, Erich

Erich, definately NOT the same as the D2, I have struck this issue before. The Defender has Australian fitted A/C and the pulley diameter is different to the D2 one.

Go by the length, but if you need to order one from LR, AFAIR it will have a AYG or HYM or similar part prefix, as it is an Australian only part. The D2 Td5 one is PCH 1000510 or something similar, it is too long at 1838mm or thereabouts.

PSQ101500 is a generic TD5 Defender with aircon according to my LR parts book. If as JC says the compressor is different over here I am not so sure though.

Thats the number I was trying to remember Pete. PQS 101500.
The problem was the parts book says that number, but the belts in Aus are different. It took 3 attempts to get the correct belt from the dealer once many years ago...

IIRC the belt that eventually turned up was actually a Gates one, with no LR numbers etc .

Think yourself lucky Justin I have one of the only non aircon td5's in Australia I think! Handilly the parts guy at Lyntons in Soutport is excellent and happy to spend ages looking for stuff for me!:)

Hi, I think I have the belt numbers sorted. My problem was that my spare parts box had 2 belts 7PK 1801 (POS 101500) and a 7PK 1825 and didn't want to remove the belt to see which is the correct spare for our 2006 TD5 Defender.

It appears that the first number 7PK 1801 (7 grouves in the pulley and 1801mm long) is for the TD5 Disco and later Defenders with Factory air - after 2003 or there abouts. The 7pk 1825 is for the earlier TD5 Defenders which had locally fitted air as an optional extra.

The 7PK 1825 would have been a spare for our previous 1999 TD5 Defender.

Thanks Erich.

I know this is an old thread, but am I correct, having read the above, in thinking that the correct belt for my Defender Xtreme TD5 2004 (with factory aircon) is the 7PK 1801? (7 grooves and 1801 mm)

A confirmation of this would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Lionel

Hi all, I just tried three times to order a belt for my 2000 td5 extreme with aircon no ACE. I got sent three different sizes from 7PK 1815, 7PK 1820 & finally I was put on to the correct one by British Offroad at Buderim which is the 7PK 1825. Phew. Lucky the experts know what's going on!
