Starter Dog Removal-Seal Replacement

Planning on replacing the lower pulley seal on my IIa this weekend. Does anyone know what size ratchet/wrench is needed to get the starter dog off?

I am doing this in our warehouse at work, so wont have access to all of my tools. Good chance I wont actually have this size anyways.......

I was minutes away from putting the lower pulley back on and realised it has a significant "score" running around it. I thought I recalled this being one of the reasons the seal could be leaking (from an old post here), but have searched and cant come up with this.

So, is this a problem? The groove is quite deep.............

If so, anyone got a lower double pulley for sale?

Yes - a score on the sealing surface will make any seal leak! And no, I don't have a serviceable pulley, double or single. You can probably get a local engineering outfit to put a speedisleeve on it.

G'day All, any bearing service/supplier can do this for you, with a 'speedi-sleeve' pricey little bits of $%#@&*^ but they work, if you have access to a caliper to measure it your in business cheers Dennis:angel:
ps Has your timing case cover had the RAEME conversion done on it??, easily identified by having round head screws instead of rivets holding the mud slinger in situ, if not do the conversion yourself while you have the T/case cover off cheers Dennis:angel:
ps It's called the C/shaft pulley not starter dog,,.

Sleeves are fairly easy to fit and they come with instructions in the box. They are something you should be able to do yourself. Just take your exact shaft size into a bearing shop and they will be able to get you one.

Dennis, yes it has! However, I am having trouble finding the 3/16 UNC bolts to replace the ones that came out. Anyone got any idea where I can get some replacements?

I tried Champion here in North Melbourne to no avail.
