Haven't actually seen it yet but the guy accepted my offer on this (subject to test drive when I get there);

Used LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 3 SE 2006 - Victoria - CarPoint Australia (http://www.carpoint.com.au/used-car/LAND%20ROVER/DISCOVERY%203/Victoria/csn6972801.aspx)

Can't wait... flying down to Melbourne from Darwin this Wednesday night and then hopefully driving it back up Friday morning...

I'm a little worried about the lack of much Land Rover presence for support up in Darwin but hopefully I'll be ok... have to rely on Darwin Mitsubishi..

It has a brand new motor and turbo - something went wrong with the other so it was replaced under warrantly - not a rebuild or anything but delivered on a crate from the UK! Hopefully this is a good thing...

Its warranty is until around July next year... do I need to do anything about this or is it automatically transferred with ownership of the vehicle? I'll look at an extended warranty before it runs out...

I plan to get an extended fuel tank and kaymar back for it eventually too, also I'll try and get a set of 6 17" wheels/tyres for it for offroad trips... hopefully by mid next year if I can afford it as the extended family is going to Cape Leveque on a trip via the GRR etccc.. they are all Tojo owners giving me heaps for buying a LR :p

Be great to tag along to any LR trips/events around Darwin :)

Congratulations (in advance) and can undrstand your enthusiasm. Great to see you guys up north have confidence in the marque and a great sign for the future of these new LRs. Have done the trip you are planning in my MY07D3S last year. Had absolutlely no reliability issues with mine since purchase new on Feb 07.

Well done mate.
Love to get my hands on a D3.

I do believe only 18" will fit because of size of brakes.

Enjoy the drive back.

In the folio with the owners book there are some tear offs to notify LR of the change of ownership. It's a good idea for recalls and such, but I don't know if it effects the warranty.

Looks like a good buy!

Cheers,

Make sure you join DISCO3.CO.UK - Dedicated to Discovery 3 and LR3 Owners and Enthusiasts (http://www.disco3.co.uk) as you will need to be able to quote TSB and give the solutions to Darwin Mitsubishi.
Or you could travel to Alice where they know what they are doing.:D

Whats TSB Caver? I have been looking at that site - looks handy. I'll go look now to see if I can find what a TSB is :)

Would that be a technical service bulletin? :)

They usually start: "Should a customer express concern"

Here is an example:

Well I made it yesterday arvo folks... was a great trip in the D3 - smooth as silk. Took 4 days. Its a beautiful vehicle.. I think a "permagrin" is in order... :D

I took a few photos on the side of the road hoping to get that elusive calendar shot! :) They're a bit boring for that probably - will try and get some action shots sometime (i'm a keen photographer)

I agree the Alice statement:) They do a very good job and prices are reasonable, known them for a long time. I went down to Alice from Darwin for a service because the previous Darwin dealer was :eek: I hope the Mitsubishi dealer is capable. Ask them the price of consumables, filters etc and then check with Suttons in Alice.
