Awesome weekend. Thanks everyone.
Some pics below: (only of one of the groups though, so hopefully there should be a lot more pics!)
Good to see everyone. Great turnout. (Did we get 30 cars?)

Great weekend guys. Thanks to Mick at al for organising what was a huge event. A special event for the boys and I as it was our first attempt at camping and I'm happy to say that the boys (most importantly) and I loved it. Even if it was bloody cold this morning.
We weren't introduced but I think this is Noz?

What a great weekend, thanks again for doing all the organising Mick.
As I was riding shotgun I wanted to practice using the new camera. As a result I have 703 photos from the weekend and I think I managed to get quite a few photos of 16 of the 30 cars. I will burn all the photos I have to some CD's and bring them along to the next meeting. Here are some of my favourites after a quick look through them all.

As I was asked to lead the extreme group on Saturday morning I thought I would provide a little report.
In the group was;
- S2Aexarmy, THE 109
- RRC, aquarangie
- RRC, DRanged
- RRC, Mater (Group Leader)
- D90, Psimpson7
- D1, CheekyD1
- D1, harry
- D1, Stikman (Tail End)
- D2, MickG
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the "Bullets" camera crew for sitting in and taking photos (and I apologize again for putting the go pedal to the floor downhill once I saw the "WARNING XTREME" sign).
Before leaving camp Saturday morning I asked around what tracks people had in mind, the only other thing that I was told other then "we will follow" was "lets check out the canyon on foot".
So the plan was to go straight to the canyon before the heat set in, well driving out of the camp site I missed the turn and ended up going up "Granite Climb" and again missed the "Main Street" going onto "Dougals View", "Two Stubbie Lane", "Pete's Pass", "EFS Creek", "Falls Drive", "Snake Pit", at this point I was well aware that we had zig zagged across the park with a not so direct route to the canyon but we were now on "Main Street" and stopped for a photo on top of "Love Hill".
Found my way to the canyon with no more mistakes and saw the warning sign at the top of the descent to the bottom of the "Canyon Climb". As I started going down I realised how loose the track was with rocks and its steepness and said to my passenger "I did not think I will be driving back out this way" that I have entered.
So continue down and down to the bottom, finding a very sharp left turn between large rocks to start the canyon climb. DRanged asked over the radio "Is there any more room for cars"? and I replied "Once I get out of the way down here one more can fit here in the bottom".
So DRanged followed down, and everyone else walked down. We all walked the canyon climb and I was looking forward to the climb.
Not two car lengths in and I was balancing on my left wheels almost hitting my left bodywork against the rock canyon, from here on out it was a team effort!
We reversed back and added some rock for the left wheels and I raised my left suspension.
This business of almost damaging the left of the vehicle, stopping, reversing and trying a different line happened on three different sections of the climb. And to top it off at the very top the right side of the vehicle was also at risk.
It is understandable that all the other vehicles would have seriously damaged their body work if attempted.
We entered the canyon at 11.01am and finished it at 11.22, not bad with only a little paint rocked off my left rock slider.
Again I would like to thank every one who helped out, guiding me through and everything else that had to happen.
We returned to camp for lunch at 11.50am.
After lunch we drove "Rum Run" with a little delay for Psimpson7 (Defender 90) who halfway down a hill had his front left wheel going left and his front right wheel going right! The group came to a stop and assisted in securing the vehicle, jacking a wheel, removing the bent factory fencing wire track rod, straightening it and refitting it.
Then onto "2nd Gear Climb", "Spring Hill" and "Kanga Ramp" followed by the return to camp for preparations for the roast: the showers.
THANKYOU DRanged for letting me use your road tires for the weekend, excellent rock and dry weather tires!

Great weekend!
Aside from the great feed last night and sitting round the fireplace, the highlight for me was that creek run we did with Bolts leading yesterday afternoon. I had the D3 on quite an angle at one stage :o
It was also good to catch up with some old faces and meet a few new ones. Need to make sure I don't leave it so long before the next one.
Heres a photo of the camp site. For those who didn't make it, except for the 3 tents up the hill in the top left corner that was all GCLRO!. Quite a crowd.

I'm crunching the video at the moment but my poor PC is taking its sweet ass time so expect them up on YouTube around 2014.

Great weekend, and great photos' everyone. Wish someone got a photo of Gary's "half semi-flop" would have liked to see what it looked like from the outside of the car. From inside the car it was pretty damn scary to say the least, I really thought we were going over. I was amazed by how quickly Justin got into position to winch us back to safety.

What an awesome trip and weekend away. Thanks to everyone who contributed in organising and especially Mick who pulled it all together :D A huge thanks to everyone that attended, it was a credit to our club and its members that such a big trip could run so smoothly with no dramas or incidents. Such a varied group of members, vehicles and walks of life making for some great driving, conversations and camp fire banter. Proud to be a part of such a great club
As for the driving......well i did not do too much of that. It was great to see Eve back in the drivers seat of the D1 out enjoying what we love to do, and she did a mighty fine job if i do say so myself  Drove some runs unlocked that i would have flicked the switches on  with a response of "you didn't tell me to put them in so i just drove it' cannot argue with that :D and the look of everyones faces jumping left and right out of her way up those rock steps......priceless :p Thanks to all the guys that provided guidence and support to her over the weekend, much appreciated.
Thanks again to all, a great weekend that i would not have missed. On to planning the next trip.

I was wondering when someone would bring that up. :o
Yes, Public thanks to Justin for providing a rescue party so quickly and expertly. :BigThumb:
Thanks also to grimace for the expert description of the movement executed :Rolling:and also Josh for the committee revision, concerning the double aspect for the double semi-flop. :twobeers:
Judging from the pictures of the other trips I was not the only one “Logging some Air Time”
I don’t know the penalty for performing an unauthorized double semi-flop but I guess I will hear from the disciplinary committee soon enough, :rulez:perhaps I can put in an early guilty plea and claim time served, cause I will have to put up with Harry’s “Reminders” all week at work
And of course if there are no pictures,:wasntme: it could not have happened.

Great weekend one of the biggest we have had:D.
A huge thanks to MickG for planning and running a great trip, it was a huge success and look forward to more in the future.
A second big thanks to all the members whom made the trip, thanks to you all for coming you made the trip a success.
Thanks to Stevo for his fine effort in entertaining us all around the fire on Friday night - another classic.
It was a great sight to see so many Landrover's of all ages at one meeting and a credit to everyone for making it such a smooth trouble free weekend.
See you soon on a trip or meeting.

Well, what a trip. First and foremost, as has been mentioned, excellent work Mick on putting together such a huge turnout and to the various TL's and TEC's for looking after their respective groups. I had an absolute blast Friday ..............then sick as a dog Saturday...special thanks to Dave aka Busman for the flu tablets....as was close to packing up and going home.
I can't say much on the driving as only did one afternoon drive but that was great fun. More importantly was great seeing many new faces....including Smokeys Doppleganger owned by Pete. Almost identical to Smokey bar a few differences.
Heres a few lame pics I took.....would have taken more:

For our first trip out it certainly was a great introduction! We didn't get around to meeting everyone (will in time) but the people we met were very welcoming and friendly. Loved the driving especially the wombat holes with the nose of the D2 heading for the sky and kids crying and laughing at the same time in the back. Big thanks to Bullets who helped us through that part as it was a precarious position.
Thanks again to Mick for running the trip. It was certainly a professional effort to coordinate such a large group.
We look forward to the next one.

Another great trip everyone, thanks Mick G for your organising skills, and thanks to eveyone else for turning up and having a great time, this is a club I am proud to be part of. Also thanks to Outlaw and X-Box for the help relocating my rear springs, and to Mick G in your absence for supplying a hose clip, that's one I owe you. And thanks to the Springs for having a bit of fencing wire lying around, I must make sure I carry a supply of wire in future.

****ing great trip, great people and the driving as usual fan-bloody-tastic. The dunga survives to fight another day I didn't end up breaking the axles in the front although I did have a spare set on hand if the inevitable did occur.
I didn't get any pics as judged we had a few photographers on the trip and there pics are better than I can take (I'm a pretty **** photographer anyway). Couple of moments in the dunga with a bit of dodgy driving and second gear doesn't work uphill on a clapped out 3.5 V8 with 400+ on the clock either but you get that. Also bashed in my RHS panel at the bottom but it was dented anyway so who cares :twisted::twisted:
Must do again, maybe we could me it an annual type thing

I can only repeat what everybody else has said, great trip and thanks to all the organisers. Though credit has to go to all the members as I have not yet come across any I don't get on with. Makes for a great weekend.
I got a lot of Pics though not all were good. I will link the ones I think are the best but the rest are here The Springs album | TimJ | Fotki.com (http://public.fotki.com/TimJ4blue/thesprings/) if you want to have a look.

Though it is a good example of how a different line can change things as a few moments before I got the camera out that wheel was about two feet up in the air, then Mick advised a line change and it didn't even lift the second time.

Thanks Tim for some great pics !!
It is amazing the articulation the D3 had,
its sure a learning curve
It was great to have a few D3s in the club, and also show
what they are really capable of !!!

Hey
What a great weekend. How good are the photos. Pat on the back to all the photographers. great bunch of people attended and i hope I said gday to all. ( hope the rattle gun did'nt peeve anyone). Was a good weekend for testing tyres and I lear'nt alot about the limitations of the Silverstone Extremes. Would have been great to get a few vehicles through the Canyon run, but it's just plain dumb to inflict the damage to the vehicles that I am sure would have been quite substantial.
Good to see the pictures from the other group as the only downside of such a large group is you dont get to drive with everyone.
Great to see some new faces ( nothing wrong with the old ones though ) and hope to see more of you on coming trips.
Driver of the weekend must be Eve as she took the bull by the horns and gave it some:twisted: Well done Eve. you must be proud Phillipe.

Thanks to all who allowed us to ride in your vehicles. Guy, Trav, Eric and ofcourse Bolts :), Thanks guys!
And thank you to everyone else (even the noisy, dusty children :)) for supplying the perfect camping atmosphere.

Shepp if it is the creek run that we did last on the Saturday morning unfortunately the wheel lift photos I got aren't the best. I got some but it is hard to tell the wheel is in the air as it wasn't lifting all that high really.
This is probably the best one for wheel lift of your car.

Excellent trip guys, have been a bit busy back at work this week and haven't had a chance to comment yet. What a turn out and what a great bunch of people:D:D Some new faces as well which is always nice to see and the usual suspects doing their best to pass on some knowlegde as they go. A huge thank you to all the TL's and TEC's for helping run the various groups, could not have managed wthout you;) Thanks also to all who helped with the raffle, a decent amount of money raised with the club matching that again. An anouncement will be made at the next meeting about where exactly the funds have been donated and how much.
Thanks for all the kind comments re. organising this trip, although I will say I did learn a few things and next time each person will be issued with a running sheet for the weekends driving to include timings etc so we all know what the go is - was a lot of time wasted moving round camp figuring out who was going on what trip and who was leading etc. This sheet will also have all participants names on so everybody can say hello as they see everyone. A mega phone would be handy aswell to address such a large group, but all in all, things went fairly smoothly and by all accounts everyone had a ball:D:D
Apologies to those down the bottom end of the camp who were disturbed by the kids running around in the dust. I know I left my kids to run around on their own for a bit as that is what they love to do when we are away and you have to let them explore on their own sometime. Hope those down the bottom were not too put out and it was my intention to try and make sure those with kids were in one part and those without were in another...........try telling the kids that though:eek: They want to get as far away from mum and dad as possible:D Something I will bear in mind though for future trips to make sure everyone has as much fun as possible;)
Further, if anyone has any comments, concerns or suggestions to make about this or any future trips (however small), please take time to let me know via PM. It is aways my intention to run these trips as best I can catering for everyone in attendance and all comments are very much welcomed and taken on board for the benefit of all club members and all subsequent trips. Without feedback, I can only call it as I see it;)
Thank you again to all who came along and for making this our biggest trip in GCRLO history. Thank you also to all those who took time to take some video and photogrphs......will maybe see if we can arrange some kind of DVD or montage of some kind as a momento for those who were there.
Talk soon and thanks again for all your help and cooperation;):D

I have a megaphone hidden in my shed somewhere (wow! what don't I have in the shed ) I will dig it out and donate it to the club.
Re the kids, I personally think it's part of the camp experience and welcome it. besides it would be hard to tell the kids they could not venture over to the swing set and trampolene over at the 'no kids' side of camp. Also kids (and stevo) give us something to laugh at from time to time :D

A big pat on the back for a fantastic well organized trip.
Also to Louis/Josh & bolts for their advise for novice 4wdrivers like us :p

nearly **** ourselves on some sections, but we prevailed.
From a new comer to the club, thanks heaps guys and look forward to another GCLRO semi jamboree.
You made us feel welcome and will recommend the club to anyone.
Hope the screeming of number 3 gromit didnt unsettle anyone.;)
I have put together a small video which i have not been able to upload to the club site or Youtube, as file to large (300mb +)
I have also tried to email with no luck, so l will burn a copy to disk & add to anyone elses video footage .

Hi Mick,
Our kids have grown up but it doesn't mean we have forgotten what it was like :). It was good to see the kids all having such a great time. We were talking about how much fun they were having with nothing but a few trucks.
So we were not worried by them, we were actually enjoying seeing them have fun.

We did that one when you were still groaning in your tent from your flu? <_<:Thump: Now is the word "flu" bolded and italicised ( did I just make up a new name??) to mean something else :p. That perhaps the "flu" was more like a "hangover" ? To be sure, the hangover exacerbated the initial symptoms....but 4 days later.....with still not a drop of alcohol.....I still have the bloody flu :BigCry:. Aye, Mick
Yep my boys would be the guilty party as far as the dust busters go. I should have thought to appologise earlier if they caused anyone a hassle.
So sorry if needed :(
Funny thing though we were all there to go play with our 4wd/trucks and that is exactly what they were doing only on a Tonka scale.
My children had a blast, the boys with the trucks and the girls making friends and playing with Harry's dog.
This is the best 4WD club going round and all due to the calibur of its members. ;)

Gary,
After studying the video many times over, I hate to tell you this, but Josh is right, that is not a 'semi flop' :(.
There is still three wheels in constant contact with the dirt, so it's more of a 'high kick' (glorified wheel up), had the drivers side rear wheel lost contact with the earth below it, it would then be classified as a semi flop.
Gonna have to try harder next time

I was in the car behind, both driver's side wheels came off the ground together and then it rested against that rock you see a bit further back, if the rock wasn't there it would have gone on its side. Where I took the video was after Gary had moved forward a metre or so.

Well en-light (sp) of this new evidence we can confirm it was indeed a semi flop. w00t w00t! goodnight :D
I am glad it is now officially a Semi-Flop
But I have further evidence that will prove that it was indeed a Double Semi-Flop
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2009/05/1071.jpg
Damage from the first Semi-Flop, Semi because it came to rest on a object before landing on its side (Full Flop)
Cheeky managed to drive out of this situation and into further (Higher attitude) problems, causing this damage when we reversed to put both front wheels back down. This did not happen until the rescue party arrived. We just stayed wedged onto the rock at the rear, holding the breaks.
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2009/05/1072.jpg
From here we were rescued see picture below.
So because there were two separate Semi-Flops, I am claiming a Double Semi-Flop. And because Harry is still claiming that we would have rolled (twice)
I guess I can claim a Double Semi-Flop with incipient Roll.
Cheers
