I am assuming you are talkign about the RPi Engineering chips.

If so, they are orsum. Only thing is you need to pull out your ecu and open it up to replace the eprom.

They need details of which eprom is your current so they can supply you with the correct chip and tune.

EDIT: If i didnt already have my Haltech i would be running a RPi chip

The Haltech intercepter may be more tunable.

i heard they can be better but they can stuff things up and if the insurance company find out or if you have any warranty on the vehicle then you you lose it- just what i heard

They work best on older systems like the 14CUX because the ECU is dumb and does not self tune. ( except if you add o2 sensors). In addition the tune that comes to Australia is "rest of world" which allows for fuel down to 87 or so octane. Finally 14CUX has no control of ignition timing at all.

If you put in a bigger capacity (eg 4.6 vs 3.9) they are superior to a standard chip as the 14CUX has programmed a maximum injector duration of 70% or so and the RPI ECU changes this to a higher duty cycle) . No aftermarket piggybacks can change this. AFAIR the standard ECU also adds no more fuel after about 5K revs so the engine is "governed" .

The RPI chip also changes idle speed, cold start settings, and deletes the speed limiter at 180Kmh.

HOWEVER the major gains from a piggyback are from taking control of the timing curve and adding LOTS of advance at light throttle low revs, and if necessary at higher revs.

IMHO the timing changes are the secret to the greater power and economy that are gained with a piggyback.

SO for standard capacity a piggyback is best.
For bigger capacity an RPI chip will help but gains will be limited without a piggyback as well.

I think Wells might be thinking of this product

20 bhp mod chip for RANGE ROVER Freelander Land Rover - eBay Mod Chips, Performance Parts, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 29-Apr-09 21:02:04 AEST) (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/20-bhp-mod-chip-for-RANGE-ROVER-Freelander-Land-Rover_W0QQitemZ280335710617QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_C ar_Parts_Accessories?hash=item280335710617&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2|65%3A1|39%3A1|240%3A1318)

I believe that it is a resistor pack added to the hot wire of the MAF

Have no idea of it's true function & value

I believe they cause the engine to run richer.

I believe they cause the engine to run richer.

and you can achieve that for FREE, via pull the wires off the engine temp sensor on the motor for the ECU :p

would not buy it

It looks like I misinterpreted the question.

However it is because I did not think anyone could SERIOUSLY ask about the $20 chips on ebay.

The answer is NO they are not worth it.

I had a look and asked them some Q's .... I picked up that they where just getting the Hot wire to give a false reading ... 20HP extra via flooding the motor with extra fuel ... I doubt it :(

Tony

Click on the Ebay link .... It will get you to their store .... Ask them a Q, as they are "right into" Injectors ....

Fuel Injector Connection (http://fuelinjectorconnection.com/shop/) .... There is a cc calculator... Calculator (http://www.fuelinjectorconnection.com/shop/docs/widercalc.html) ... on their site ... These Gen111 are rated 19lb, The calculator suggests 199.5cc

How do you fit these again???

Now I have to do a 100k drive to record a Drive test result on the old injectors ... Then fit and test the new ones ... Then repeat the test

A job for next week :)

Mike, a nice easy job that should be done in 2hrs max. Dont forget to check that the all the old O rings come out with the old injectors or like me you will be wondering why one of the new injectors is a few mil longer than the others when putting back the fuel rail.
Regardless of fuel economy my car pulls much stronger at higher speeds since the change.

Mike, how are you making changes to the injector pulse duration to suit the different injectors? Are they the same impedance as the stock lucas ones?

Mike, how are you making changes to the injector pulse duration to suit the different injectors? Are they the same impedance as the stock lucas ones?

I am not making any changes ... These injectors are suppose to be a straight swap

Just a little footnote ....
I am no expert on EFI ... Still Learning

These Gen111 have me excited because I can see the potential in the different spray pattern that they produce

I want to do a test between the old & the new ... to confirm that it either works ... or .... It is just another snake oil myth

Like mike I am no expert on the technicalities of these injectors however there are many post on this and other forums from those far brighter than me that have concluded these are a straight swap hence me fitting a set. All I can say is that physicaly they are a direct fit with no mods and the car runs fine with them installed.
