Not sure how many people are going to be sad about the PT cruiser being discontinued....

But GM isn't the only automaker that has made cuts. Chrysler announced plans last February to discontinue three of its models--the PT Cruiser, the Chrysler Aspen and the Dodge Durango--and it cut four others in 2008.

American (and other countries') car brands have been disappearing since the start of the motoring era.

Just to name a few, more or less at random:-

Oldsmobile, Reo, Pierce-Arrow, Stutz, Auburn, Stanley, Locomobile Baker Electric, Autocar, Bantam, Willys, Cord, Detroit Electric, Doble, Durea, Graham, Hupmobile, Hudson, Kaiser, Moline, Nash, Paige, Peerless, Rugby, Essex, Stearns, Whippet,

All of these were produced for at least five years, some of them for decades.
