Well, my $900 'Ruddy money' come thorogh (funny the hard working tax payers had to wait whilts the unemployed bludgers got they'res first up :mad::mad:) and though what would the best way to spend it, buy another Land Rover
Well, found this 92 Disco with a not so healthy engine on e-bay and won it for $1250 so I only really paid $350 for it in total. Good clean vehicle, 2 owner since new and generally needs a good clean. No rust which is a bonus. Being a die-hard Rangie owner I wasn't considering a Disco but at that price it was a good buy.
Pic below, not the best one but I got it off e-bay and will post some more up once I take collection which will be later this weel sometime.

Thanks Tim. You know me, always on the hunt for a bargain :twisted::twisted:
Project Dunga still lives on til I decide what to do with the Disco, always good to have a spare just in case I kill the dunga in the meantime.

No me neither but at that price who's to be picky :D
I was looking at Rangies and was my prefernce but realistically I wasn't prepared to pay twice as much for a pile of ****, Discos whilts not as good are a damn sight cheaper and more plentuiful (I had a look at a Rangie for $2K what a ****box. Had a running engine but was a mess overall and very dissapointing).
Mate of mine loves Rangies to death like me but bought a tdi Disco 3 years ago. Still misses his Rangie but not the fuel consumption he tells me (always hangs **** on me when we do trips about how little he uses, bastard :mad::mad:).

Thanks Stevo, Pete and Shepp.
I'm pretty happy with it, drives okay (although it's only running on about 4 cylinders) but took it around the block and it seemed to steer, brake and ride well. it's tidy enough meaning it's niot a pristine unit that I wouldn't be afraid to use.
I'll still have a Rangie of sorts so I won't be deserting the Rangie flag altogether. The dunga will stay registerd til it dies, can't ask anymore of it as it's been a ripper vehicle to date :D

Bloody oath it's an auto :twisted::twisted: I wouldn't have bought it otherwise
They're not a bad vintage, prefer the 94 onwards dash though but still who cares for that price . The Disco that I had in the past was the same year although dark green in colour. The blue interior is not overly pleasnt (I had beige although it was a bugger to keep clean) but I can live with it plus it has a console even if it's cheap nasy and '5 minute' plastic one (the Disco I had didn't have one, had one of those dodgy zip bags consoles attached to it ).
I'll post up a pic of my old Disco if I can find a pic and scan it.

Very funny :D
I'll still have a Rangie in my collection, I hanker for one even with Disco ownership. If I trash the Disco body, I may even put a Rangie body on top and use the Disco dash but Rangie seats  (I will miss my armrests, looking at putting Rangie vogue seats in over time :D).

Would be an interesting project. I'd do it if I trashthe Disco bodywork, which will happen over a period of time, retro-fit the Disco dash, etc.. as it all fits (only thing that needs changing is the headlight switch). Mike Hall (previous owner of Rover Care) did a few of these and they come up pretty goodif I remember
You might be onto something there Guy

Disco's are in plague numbers at the moment, but all that interbreeding will be their downfall you'll see. Maybe the collicie virus may yet have another use.;)

To tell you the truth if it wasn't for the ''p'' plate no v8 rule, i would most likely be a rangie owner not a disco owner, always had a soft spot for rangies:angel:

Glad they didn't have that when I got my license 13 odd years ago (now 31) nor didI have to put those P plate cards on the window (In Vic yes but when I moved up to QLD no I never put them on).
Still prefer the mighty Rangie, but as I said before money talks even if it's a Discovery. Picking it up tomorrow arvo and taking down to Jimboomba as I can't see me having time to have it regoed before I move house.

Project Disco is now in my hot little hands :D:D:D. No pics sorry it was dark, I was hungry and I left it at that. Juts locked it and went home for a feed.
Trying to think of a name for this project, maybe project traitor for the Rangie owners in our club as I have crossed to the darker side
Going down to the 'boomba on Sunday, get some pics of it then and a wash too with sap and all sorts of crud on the roof and bonnet.

Never got to wash it today, couldn't be stuffed  Project dunga will not be sold off as it's been a pretty good old Rangie. It runs, doesn't give me the ****s and does what is asked of it even if it rattles like it's going to fall to bits or chucks a wobbly on cold start-ups  but the measerly amount of $$ I paid I can't expect much more can I
PDA will become a work vehicle/beach bum/not so hard trip vehicle. it's cheap and our so called 'stimulus package' paid for $900 of it so who's complaning. Once work gets busier again I can go out plastering on my own as planned a while back (had planned to after Xmas but it it died in the arse all of a sudden so I'm stuck making a wage working for the old man but better than nothing :mad:)
Once I start on PDA I'll put up a new thread.
