I think the general concensus is that if your Disco has the factory manifolds with twin outlets on each side, then extractors are a waste of money.

I have extractors on my Rangie and I am considering changing back to stock manifolds as the extractors are very thin.

There also appears to be few gains available from aftermarket chipping.
A search for the threads on oxygen sensor fitting might yield some results.

the (very) small gain will be outweighed by the sound invoking use of the right foot.

want more power?
rev it to 4500,,

want better economy?
change at 2.

its a very small 8,, trying to shift two tonnes,,

You and the local servo attendent will get to be best mates:p

I'm getting an extra 130 k's per tank after replacing my vacuum advance module. Obviously this only applies if your diaghram is shot. You would probably get the greatest performance and economy gains by making sure your ignition and fuel systems are A1. I got a 2.5 inch straight thru exhaust fitted for $280. Don't know about any extra performance but it sounds great.

Doing the exhaust alone does very little except for make a better exhaust note.

Putting in a different cam, checking all injection and fuel system would make more of an improvement.
Skip all the above and source a 3.9 or 4L motor and do a straight swap.
Improvement will be very noticeable or better still, do a 4.6 with Haltech injection and mandrel bend exhaust etc.

Now we are talking.

sorry ment to say i had a 3.9 not 3.5. it seems over the last 12 months fuel economy has dipped a bit. when i bought it they had just replaced the oxygen sensor with a 2nd hand one with about 50 thou on it and cleaned the injectors to stop a slight stalling isseu it had.

3.9 not 3.5..... fuel economy has dipped a bit

If you want the best out of the motor ...

Check that the cam chain is not stretched
Clean the MAF
Clean the Stepper
Calibrate the MAF & the TPS
Make sure the electrics (ignition system) are like new
Make sure the EFI Temp sensor's are up to scratch
Make sure the air filter is clean
Use injector cleaner on occasions of a long drive (IE use the tank up in one day)
Use Quality parts

Don't drive with steel cap boots :p
