Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can tell me where the air con thermostat is located in a defender 200tdi. I have had a new air con compressor fitted but the air con system does no seem to be working.

thanks.

I'm certainly no expert and am only going on memory of my 200TDI but I don’t believe the air con was temperature controlled.

My 200 has an Aus fitted air con and the temp control in directly below the ignition key. The temp control and fan speed/on switch are all the same switch.

yeah i've just pulled my one out.
the air con is definately temp controlled in the 200tdi as it will kick out and in more often once it cools down on a lower setting.
(mine does anyway... well used to until it died)

i pulled it out to test the switch,
if anyone is an electrictian and done work on air con problems, i could really use a little advice!

what happens is this:
on fan setting 1 and 2, the a/c compressor kicks in but the fan does not work.
on setting 3 the fan go's full blast but the compressor does not kick in.

the a/c rotator dial works, the compressos only kicks in when it's turned on. just not on fan speed three.

from testing the switch with a multi meter i'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with it.

the circuit closes ok in the a/c switch on all three fan settings.
three different circuits close on the three different fan settings.

so i'm guessing the problem is deeper in the system.

any suggestions? please?

thanks.
