Hi All,

I only joined yesterday so I hope I am posting this in the right section.

I am currently looking for a single cab 110 tdi ute from about 90-97 without to many mods and add ons, I would love to get a dual cab but I think it will be a little out of my price range. Does anybody have any leads regarding such a vehicle? Or does anyone have one for sale in W.A.

I am relatively new to this (I did own a series 1 but thats a whole different kettle of fish:D). So if anybody could give me a rough idea as to what sort of price I should expect to pay for a Defender ute like I have described that would be fantastic. Also any other tips or pointers would be great.

Thanks in anticipation.

I think your best bet would be to get on to the RED BOOK on the internet and see what they have them priced at. This will give you a general idea of cost so you have a rough basis of comparison when looking around.

Others here will have far better knowledge of what to look for in regard to condition.

Cheers and good hunting

Welcome to the forum.

I reckon you'll be having to pay in the 12K - $15K range for a reasonable one. There is a fantastic one in WA at the moment, but it might be out of your price range. 1996 with 14,000 apparently genuine KMs on it:
Used LAND ROVER DEFENDER 1996 - Western Australia - CarPoint Australia (http://www.carpoint.com.au/used-car/LAND%20ROVER/DEFENDER/Western%20Australia/csn7049406.aspx)

You'll have to take the Red Book prices with a pinch of salt. They are notoriously under priced, probably due to people under reporting to the registration department what they really paid for the vehicle.

Keep looking - one will turn up. You might have to buy interstate and get it shipped over though. I live in Adelaide, and there are hardle any utes for sale here. I found my 130 ute in Sydney and flew over to pick it up, but it was $3K -$4k cheaper over there than an equivalent Adelaide car.

Thanks Guys,

Unfortunately that ute is out of my price range, but whoever does get it should be happy with it. Only 14000km's is brilliant. Accoding to Redbook, a 93 model should cost somewhere in the order of $3600 - $5300 ... I think somebody at redbook must have been daydreaming. I have only ever seen one that cheap and that was on ebay in NSW, unfortunately it sold straight away.

I guess a wagon would do the trick as well although a ute would certainly be much better around the farm.

Thanks for the tip regarding Kevin, I'll give him a call on Monday.

Jonathan.

Agree with spudboy.

You're going to need over $10k and probably closer to $15k to get one.

There is a single cab tray and a dual cab tray on carsales at the moment in WA, both 130s though.

Hi JP,
I looked for about a year for a dual cab in WA. Found one that was in my price range- read as cheap, but i was prepared to spend. My best advice is that if its cheap its because its buggered. Great part about LR is that they are fairly easy to fix DIY but do cost a bit of dough. Rovercraft have pretty much all you need at a reasonable price, but the bills add up real fast. So if you buy cheap, make sure its very cheap or that you have good mechanical skills because any of the service guys will cost plenty.
I dont want to put you off because once they are under your skin you will enjoy it. Also Make sure every thing works:D:D and that its not too badly rusted on the doors and bulk head. both very expensive.
