As I have mentioned in previous threads, I am trying to do some concreting. My trip to town on Wednesday revealed that nowhere in Dubbo had carburetter gaskets for Robin motors in stock, so when I got home I made the necessary ones and reassembled it, and got the engine started. On Thursday and Friday I got two sections of the slab done. This morning, having got into the swing of things, I was looking forward to getting two or even three done.
That was until I looked outside and saw the RH front tyre of the 2a was flat. Oh well, just stick the spare on - not even in the vehicle yet, having been in the shed since th "local bloke" fixed it a month or so ago. Tightened wheel nuts, let the jack down - I really should have checked whether it had any air in it before putting it on. Pull it off, put the other spare on - which needed 5psi extra putting in it, unhook the trailer, unload the cement out of the back, load the two tyres in and head off to the village to put the two tyres in before he closes at lunchtime. Decided to get another ten bags of cement to save going in there on Monday.
Delay getting the cement - he had loaded their whole stock (ten bags, which is what I asked for) into his ute to take home and do a job himself! Very generously though transferred it to the Landrover. At this stage got a call from my sister next door to say she had got the bucket I asked her to get me in town yesterday. So I drove over there, helped her to unload the dogfood out of her car, had a cup of tea, discussed the mouse plague, helped her to clean the six dead mice from under the freezer (she is quite a bit older than I am). result was it was lunchtime by the time I got home. Had to get the reinforcing for my next section of concrete. I am using for this a couple of mesh field bins I bought at a clearing sale about five or six years ago. This was not as quick as it could have been - I had to cut off the saplings growing through it.
Net result is that all I got done was to prepare one slab for puring. Still have to go and get a load of sand in the morning to do that.
