I have heard of people using an electric motor to pressurise their trailer to keep dust out. Has anyone here done it or seen one up close?

so where does the compressor or fan get the 'clean' air from?
outside the trailer which is travelling along in a cloud of dust?
should we just seal it well.

Put a snorkel head on it with a pod filter on the bottom. That should do the job.

done it...

2 large 12v printer box fans drawing air in through a holden air filter

hooked up the the aux feed in the trailer socket

the fan and filter unit is one unit in a international tractor(cab) it worked for me old xb ute on the red dust roads
also had them on the massi sunshine auder headders

The problem with this bloody site is that it keeps giving me ideas for the to-do list. The list is growing so much faster than I can finish something on it.

At least I managed to cross two things off today and only two went on.

I had a ducted tarp on my Commodore utes in the past. Was basically custom ducting fixed behind the B pillars made to look like it was part of the pillar, forward facing and leading down into the back. Worked quite well too!
Utes had 2 drain holes up the front in the floor and a big gap around the tailgate that used to cycle dust something chronic with the tarp on. Anyone with a Commodore ute will know how the front of the tarp balloons and the rear looks like a big spoiler at speed!
The duct kept just enough air pressure in to keep the dust from coming in thru the tailgate.

Could be done the same with a trailer, but depends on the tarp, the seal and how much dust from the car goes over the front of the trailer.

Weatherstripping around gates and gaps can help too.

I have heard of using a forward facing air scoop of some kind running through a filter element, not sure how effective this would be as forward speed is often not high on dusty roads. One thing about towing a camper, you don't tend to get dust in the car as the plume is behind the trailer. Perhaps another trailer behind the camper....
