Ill see how the little petrol goes but latter on i might contemplate a desel(but i've been told they don't like bio)
i just want a nice simple car i can go on a nice weekend trundle or go fishin ect
it wont do any heavy off road or touring work (i have a well set up tojo for that) but it will get used what it was built for and ill love every minute of it.

Will you be fitting an auto? My Mrs is unable to drive a manual due to having a stroke when she was younger but Know she would love to get out in my S3 she already been out mud plugging in our jeep by her self. Would realy love to fit an automatic for her but not sure the best way to go about it.

HBWC

na leaving her manual you can get a conversion kit which brings the clutch on to the gear leaver or you can get a full hand control kit for a manual now but im going to build my own! (more series style no electronics)
i also need a name for the old girl ?
got any ideas?

Land rover fairy strikes again.:ninja:
Glad to help out!!
I also have a line on an ex-Perth airport tray back series III if anyone is interested. Has original motor and LPG!Red so probably an ex-fire tender.
I don't think it's licensed but great bit of local history.
PM me if you are interested.
(No, I am not selling it Mr. Moderator, just out to grant wishes to the "believers" being the conduit for all old Landies in WA looking to be adopted)

HBWC

so is their one in wa with 2 forsale

Cliffy
24th May 2009, 12:53 AM
Eh?
Do you need rims??(to replace those splits?)
Speak to Kevin @ JRT, he has heaps.
Ron in Stoneville may have some too.
I may have one or two in the shed but my wife's cats nest in them so you better be good with animals!!

HBWC
24th May 2009, 01:00 AM
dose a shot gun count

just jokeing im pritty good with animals
i just want to put the two splitys in the shead for a rainy day (more than what we had) since they are good

Cliffy
24th May 2009, 01:49 PM
Any threat of violence to her cats is met with far greater threats of destruction to Landrovers!!!:o
Just checked and no good I'm afraid.:(
Try Kev.
Also, 2nd hand tyre places usually have defender rims about, LWB rims will give you a better turning circle!

im geting frustraited still carnt find the chassie no. im getting anoyed but theirs been some mods to the chassie but like the rear crosmember is made out of 10mm plate the out riggers have been boxed and tghe only rust to fix is 2 holles in the bulk head around the size of a ten cent pice and pat of the chassie where the front bumper mounts

Series 2a about '66 or '67 - RHD CKD 88.

John

Cliffy
24th May 2009, 10:51 PM
Me thinks it is a 66 or a little younger as it's not a "Black Dash" model (ie. push button start and small instrument box under the dash propper as opposed to turn key ignition).

HBWC
24th May 2009, 11:00 PM
thanks whats the complance pate where the glove box would be in a normal car it has some no but like the rest of the plates their faded
uv light might help me thinks

JDNSW
25th May 2009, 06:11 AM
Well, it won't have a compliance plate - they did not exist until the mid seventies. There should be three of plates on the firewall straight in front of the gearlever below the instrument panel.

These should be an instruction plate for the extra red and yellow levers, which usually has the chassis serial number stamped on it. There should also be a narrower plate the same width below it with a warning about using four wheel drive on hard surfaces, and above it a much smaller plate by Pressed Metal Corporation, with their (different) build number stamped on it.

nothing on REMLR about navy, although the tail light protectors look similar to the army ones.

That said, our navy records are far from complete!

nothing on REMLR about navy, although the tail light protectors look similar to the army ones.

Have another look. To me they look rolled and welded, whereas the true "bathtubs" are pressed. They might be home made copies to the same effect.

Aaron.

Cliffy
26th May 2009, 06:07 PM
They are originals.
I have seen a few on civi Landrovers.
Mick, did any ADF IIa's have the Landrover splits on them??

Phoenix
27th May 2009, 08:25 AM
I did say "similar", not "the same as" ;)

Army 2a's did not have split rims.

G'day All, Those tail light protectors were available in the early 60's, a mate has a set on a 109 that he has, I don't know who made them but they are rolled and welded 1/8" x 2" flat bar, with 2 tabs on the inside to bolt them thru where 2 rivets hold the corner gal capping, and like Phoenix said "similar not the same as anyway cheers Dennis:angel:
ps this useless bit of trivia bought to you by a bored old B:(, these items came about after the S2 C/R came on the scene, fitted with 'Tail Light protectors' as we know them, but they were not available to the gen/public, so some enterprising person set up making their own design, and good to see that some are still in existence today,,.:wasntme:

...........

That is not a name plate (although it may have writing on it, but not from the factory); it is the blanking plate for where the steering column would go through for LHD.

My 1975 Series 3 SWB Ute, has the rear tail light protectors on it. I think I'm the third owner, and it looks like it's factory original .. As it was never an Army Landy.. (I think from memory, it was originally owned by a council or something.. It's been a while, as I've had her for around 17-18 years now) She's the original Yellow with white roof colour scheme.

Sorry for the off topic post..
