hi, i came across these two in my travels and was wondering if you guys could tell me the series and approx year on them and any info you might like to add as i am not very familiar with the old girls. Also, about the six wheeler, was this available from factory? Thanks for any help.

They are both SIIAs

Judging from the wipers and lights they should be 1967-1969 vintage.

The grey one has deluxe bonnet and grill. Possibly a 6cyl?

As Isuzurover. Both are 2as.

The six wheeled one is not a factory job, worth looking, but it is most likely a non-driven extra axle and extended chassis, aftermarket. These were offered for a variety of utilities from about that time (1960s) with the idea of increasing payload. Rare in Landrovers, but I have seen them. Probably most common in Holdens, and may still be offered for some vehicles - I have seen them on fairly late model Landcruisers.

A driven third axle would be most unusual, and would be some sort of "one-off" arrangement.

I was wondering if the third axle was driven or lazy (and where in tassie it was). Don't worry, i'm selling not buying at the moment, but i'm curious to have a look at the 6xwhatever if it's close.

Looking at the internal shot, I see a 4 cyl gearshift.........

Just had a closer look - it does say $1800 - I saw $800. The sign looks as if it has been there for a long time! You would have to have a good look at their condition, but while the pair might go over $800, I can't see them reaching $1800. $900 for an unregistered 2a would want to see it in very good condition - you would have to look at as a minimum replacing most hydraulic components, probably all the tyres, very likely a bunch of seals, even if nothing else is wrong - pay an absolute minimum of several hundred just in parts, most likely close to $1000, then $600 or thereabouts for registration and compulsory insurance - and you have a vehicle that is worth at most $2500 unless you repaint it, and even then not much more. And you can almost bet there is something else expensive that needs to be fixed!

2as are not yet rare enough for this to be a factor in their pricing. I have problems seeing the pair being worth more than about $1200 max.

Assuming it has a Series transfer case you can't do it like the Perentie, but I suppose the value of it if it does have a driving rear axle will depend on how it was done and how well it was done. If it is a driving rear axle, and reasonably well done, that could increase the value by perhaps $1000 for the right buyer (but remember that to use it on the road you would have to get it engineered, and it is probably pretty underpowered for the increased load capacity)

I think that was a 64 so it must be up the North West

JohnOutside the Carmichael and similar conversions from the UK 6X6 SIIa Land Rovers are rare.

However today there are mobs in Au who do 6X6 conversions in just about anything. This was a Landcruiser 100 series crew-cab (cab chassis) transiting NSW on the way back to somewhere after a conversion by Creative Conversions in Qld.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't a driven rear diff. Me and the mrs saw them on the way to queenstown one day. I can't remember exactly where but she would. I wouldn't give the price too much thought though by looking at them i would say they have been there for around ten years. That sign has seen quite a few west coast winters. I was going to offer $200 or something just to see what happens.

Would you restore them or break them? let me know if you wreck them I really need 2a mudguards the ones without the headlights..I can even swap for two very straight series2a mudguards that have the headlights if in good condition
