I don't mind the look of it, but I would need a bit more leg room. The 110 single cabs just aren't big enough for me. This has given me an idea of what I could do to my 120 Isuzu when I do it up............Extra cab, tub, 4BD1T, with a 120" wheel base...........just a thought for now.

It loks a million times better than a hilux ute, or any other jap crap for that matter, if i was a trady, i would go for one of these any day, bigger better, last 300 years...

The basic Land Rover design/shape has held up for 60 years. Even brand new Defers still have that 'character' which other brands just don't seem to be able to acheive.............New Hilux's are ugly IMO, and even the 'mighty' Landcruiser 200 just looks like a big Kluger.......how BORING. Too many people are sucked in by Toyota's massive advertising budget.

I wonder if there going to stick with older type rims, Pre 98 130 style, strange the 110 HCPU comes with the older rims. but in the Uk the New van got then as well.

That's to do with loading capacity, I think.

I agree with you Shonky, personally I really don't like the Landrover tubs. Now if you were to fit a decent looking wooden floored, steel tray then ......:BigThumb:

I reckon it looks good, but it would look better without the bonnet bulge. Would look less 'bulbousy'.

I am at a loss as to who is likely to buy these - Australians have demonstrated quite clearly over the last thirty or forty years that dropside traybacks are far more popular than are this type of body.

wouldn't they be sold cab-chassis and you could pick what you wanted? Arn't the 130s like that ?

I seem to recall reading the tub was copied from a Toyota 40 series in the 70's. Looks like it too!.

Yeh the 130's are like that, with the new model. But even still they come with nothing; so you have to fork out for a new tray on top of the Defender :(

Yeh but only in the dual cabs, and thats most likely because they are a play toy with shiny alloys. Not a work ute. I reckon most tradies looking for a work ute would much prefer a tray, also I haven't seen a single cab style side Hilux for a fair while

apart from the fact you have no where to park the spare and utilise all the rear space it's ok .....but i would tend to go for the British army approach and stick a hub carrier for the spare on the front rad level on the roo bar so as to maximise space might be doing this with the 130 (whenever that sees tarmac again) as i am thinking of getting rid of the bonnet carrier and chequer plating the bonnet and wings, as it has some bruised panels, think the roo's might be grateful too :p

Sounds like a good idea that., or you could fit a side mount like the UK Wolf's have.

That too. :ohyes:

Traybacks are much more useful IMHO. They are selling the 110 trayback though as well aren't they?

Yes, I was just wondering who would buy the HCPU. I expect the trayback, mostly 130s, will outsell this by at least 10:1, possibly more.

Yep - speaking* to my local dealer** I noticed:

110 Hardtop
110 Single Cab Pick up
110 DualCab Pickup

130 Single Cab
130 Dual Cab

No 90 or 130 Hardtop. They seem to be available as base, steel wheels, A/C but no T/C or ABS.

Trim packs are available for a 'boost' (mags + abs & t/c) and HC (uprated suspension and 130/ wolf style wheels).

I was looking at the hard top, which is 45990 base price, and the trim packs are 2k allup and not available together. On road, the hardtop was c. 54k.

I think the other were 48990.

* and by speaking, I mean reading the memo on his desk while he went and found someone to answer a question I had... :wasntme:
**just sounds dodgy, doesn't it

Interesting.. the hardtop will have black grill, guards and a white roof. (for metallic paint option)

Should look good in green :D

Only shame is that the 'boost pack' comes with alloys.. I guess you could get some white 130 wheels and clad them with some angry tires for the ruff stuff..

Dealer said delivery would be some time around October..

Apparently there is no option for no windows cut on delivery..
but they did say that where the windows would be had not yet been decided. (although I didn't see this on the official memo..)
