yep, i know, it is a bit off topic,
but does anyone here know anything about f 100 transfer boxes?
or maybe suggest where to look.
we have a box that slips when in 4wd low, makes terrible noises and sounds as if it is jumping out of engagement
any help would be appreciated.

Depends on the transfer case and model.

Some have gear trains and others have chain drive so that could be your problems. I seem to remember some possibly being New Process 203 and 205 models. Can see if I still have information on them if you like.

Must be a NP 203, the 205 was gear driven, constant mesh, according to the service manual I have here. (used from '74-'80)

Must be a NP 203, .... (used from '74-'80) NP = New Process really unbreakable transmissions, before any New Venture and Chrysler going bankrupt. :(
