Hey guys, I have just purchased a used Land Rover Diso - 03 Model V8 Auto from a dealer in NSW, but I am in SA, so the Statutory 3 month warranty is a bit useless to me.

Here's the problem - I have had the car for 3 days, and a few times the warning lights for the ABS, TC and Hill Decent have come on, but when I turned the car off and on again, they went away. They have now come back and will not go away. I have checked the book and it says to take it to a dealer, and I will do this in due course, however, the car is driving fine, there doesn't seem to be any issues with the braking or TC, but when I press the Hill Decent button, a warning chime sounds 3 times, which is apparently further indicating a fault.

The car has only done 50,000kms, and it doesn't seem to have done any heavy 4wd or tow work. I think it might be electrical or a sensor. The left rear indicator also doesn't work, and the left indicators also flash very quickly. Don't know if this is separate or somehow a related electrical fault.

Anyone got any ideas or experience with this? There are only 2 Land Rover dealers in SA and I have dealt with both of them in the past and they are, well, not very honest to say the least. Would appreciate any help.

Alex

supasquad, you own a landy, this is the site to be on
My gremlin is when the brakes squeak, sends the lights of all the time
It can be something as simple as this to a lot bigger problem. Do a search here on ,"The 3 Amigos",this is what the 3 lights are called, lots of info, some one might be able to help you out at your location too??

I think it's because he bought it in NSW and lives in SA....

What side of Adelaide do you live on? There are a few independent LR workshops around.

3 Amigos - I think the computer will have logged a fault. Try and get someone with the diagnostic equipment to check. It could be one of quite a few things. (brake pads, ABS sensor, ABS module(this one is where the warranty may be of use)).

And welcome!!

The left rear indicator also doesn't work, and the left indicators also flash very quickly. Don't know if this is separate or somehow a related electrical fault.

It's just a blown globe or poor connectio at that light. That side flashes fast to warn you there's a problem.

For the warning lights, have a search here for the 3 amigoes. There should be a section dedicated to it in the Good Oil too.

Ok, so does anyone know any honest, reliable and well priced Land Rover mechanics in SA? Otherwise I will have to go to the dealer, and I am scared ****less about that prospect. Obviously who ever I take it to will need the diagnostic equipment, and having only owned this car for 3 days, one of those nanocom things seems like a good investment!

Any nanocom owner reviews??? Does it give accurate diagnostics? And how does it work? I have seen another type on ebay that you connect to your laptop, but not sure what thats like???

The 3 chimes means an error on your behalf.
close all doors,
put in low range,
press HDC.
single chime will sound if ok,,

Go to
The Good Oil
forum,, read up on the 3 amigoes,,,
its not all doom and gloom.

Yes, you have a case of the 3 amigos.

The dealer has probably cleared the fault and not fixed the problem.
If you're are not prepared to chase the warranty (probably not worth it) it will cost you a few bucks - but not fatal (as pedro has said.)
Lots of different things will cause a 3 amigo attack. It'll be something like an ABS sensor. A land rover specialist will be able to diagnose and rectify - You'll find one in Adelaide.
Good Luck.
